i'm running exciter SX flatslides on my 89 with a PSI pipe, i've got 160 mains in it now you think that is too big for the stock 570 with a pipe? i've got 50 pilots in it.
you are the only 1 so far i have heard running this combo(i am in the process of doing the same thing)how does it run? what does the plugs look like? sx is a different beast than the earlier 570's (different jetting for the more wilder porting )(77 hp vs 93 hp stock)i was wondering where to start with my jetting, just stock i guess.

On my 93 st I had a single DG pipe that I ran the stock jets and had no problems. On the sx with twin PSI pipes I have so far had the best luck with 160 mains and 52.5 pilots.

Ran her tonight with new plugs, oil turned all the way down, 52.5 pilots and 160 mains. I only rode for about 15 miles, but the plugs were a little on the dry side with a lot less oil than before. I didn't really notice any bogging unless I really got on the throttle from a stop. I did pull the choke when it started to bog and it only made the engine bog more. Lots of people have said that I should be running 55 pilots and 160 mains. Ramblnman, are you going to run a single or twin pipe setup?
single psi pipe, what do you have for a clutch setup? might need to work on that to get the rest of the bog out.engagement and shiftout rpm's? is your belt riding on top of secondary. sounds like your getting plenty of fuel.

For now, I'm using the stock clutch off my ST. I know I really should get a better clutch setup, but after this season, I'm going to bore the motor, shave the head, and port the cylinders. So I'm just hoping that it'll keep working for a few more weeks. I've got the twin pipe setup and have read that the PSI twins have a tendency to break cranks because they produce a lot more torque over stock. I've already broken one crank this year so hopefully the whole bottom end will hold together for me. I'm using NGK BR9ES plugs right now, but I've got some NGK BR9EIX (Iridium Core) plugs waiting to go back in. I've noticed that the motor produces a lot more power with them over the standard plugs. I have considered the clutch being some of the bogging problem too, but the guy that I bought the sled from said that the clutch was rebuilt and setup for the twin pipes. Before my crank broke, I was having bogging problems too so I don't think the clutch is the only problem. I think I'm going to try the 55 pilots tomorrow with the air screws 1 turn out and see what happens.
