TPS on SRX: Adjustable?

I just purchased a 00' SRX and see that it has what looks like a throttle position sensor on the carbs. My 98 did not have this. Anyhow, I noticed to screws on the side of it and it looks like if they were backed off that you could rotate or adust the position of this sensor. Should this be done and what effect would it have, if any. Thanks.
 
Thats not an TPS it´s an TORS =)
It´s an safety switch that together with a switch in your throttlehandle kills the ignition if the throttles or wire freeze or get stuck!

That's what I was thinking but I'm wondering if the owner of the sled before me messed with it as its turned hard in one direction. Does anyone have a picture of one they could post so I can see the stock position? Thanks.

As SRX7 stated it is definitly the TPS. More than likely it has not been messed with as you need to buy a special tool to loosen the screws. They are usually turned hard one way as you descibed. There is ways to check them using a OHM meter.

Like the others said leave it alone probably not been touched,i think they
all were cranked to one side from the factory, iirc mine is like that too,you'll
get no gains by adjusting it(it's for low to mid range performance)..


but if you just can't sleep at night here's how you check/adjust it....

mine had a little gap on one side (like the pic), it was never fully turned to one side. have the screws been tampered with?
 
You can buy the bit to loosen the screws at the hardware store. I bought mine at Menards. I have also seen them at Auto zone.
 
Thanks for all the advice. Looks like mine is set like the picture Daman posted. I'll double check that tonight.
 
I would say either tap into the existing wires with test leads or get a tps
harness end from a donor sled...

they kinda make it confusing...
 
Why are you concerned? I would not touch it, this sensor is vital for engine operation and when it is set at the factory its set to most likely optimum setting.

Well, I took a look at mine and it is turned the exact oposite of how it is shown in the pictue from the manual. It is actually positioned as far as it can be rotated clockwise. The picture shows it as far as it will go counter-clokwise. Maybe this does not matter and maybe they are all different from the factory, not sure. I haven't actually been able to test it yet. Mine does look like it may have been moved at one time as well.
 
Reason I asked is cause I had mine off to put a set of 38's on. I put it back on right where the marks were from before. Didn't Mr Viper say if it is out of adjustment the dcs light will flash?

If tps is outa range or faulty you should get a tps code light flashing..
