Have any of you SRX owners ever try a 24 tooth upper with the 38 lower tooth sprocket. If you have ,did you gain realistically on top end.I am thinking of getting a 24 tooth to try.Since my sled boots out like a madman and spins the hell out of the track, especially with the use of HC's(re:belt grab is great),can't see it really hurting me on low end,but would like to get a few more mph on top end.
I have done everything one can do.Got original short travelled suspension back at work, lowered the front end when I put in the new shock brackets.Limiters are tightened factory specs at 35 mm to plate. So when sled is sitting on the garage floor, straps are just snug, not to tight.Got my transfer rods set up a little more then 50/50 spacing when I sit on it.Turned nuts one extra line out from the 50/50 setting.Have new Predator 1" 6 pitch track.New 8DN belt adjusted properly.Clutches are all aligned and centered. This sled has all new bearings thru out.I installed over sized idler wheels and have marginal wheel kit in front.Simmon's ski's are aligned parallel without me sitting on sled.PV's cleaned and adjusted, compression 120 across, jetted to 01 specs and 50 pilots for the lean bog.My HC's are set up with 5.2g heel and 7 g tip with 50/38 Dalton Helix at 70 wrap.DCS is no issue at all either.Engages at about 4300 and revs to 8500,drops to 82 when she bites and climbs to 8500 wot dead on.
SO WHY am I not seeing any higher speeds then maybe 102 mph lately. Was -20 today..so should of been better.Sled really jumps out of the hole and pulls crazy like to 100 mph approx and does not want to pick up any more speed.8500 rpm's at wot yet.Motor is just humming.I would be happy to hit 110 and call it quits after that.
Anyways enjoy riding this sled as it has great power. Was doing some wide open runs today in front of a bunch of Cat and Poo guys. They were all stopped and I flew by them and they were watching me pretty good. There was one SXViper among them also.Seen another Polaris sled being towed by another sled on my way home.Another Poo breakdown.
What is the answer here.I am gonna have to try my spare clutch with the 8DN set up next week just for the hell of it,you never know. And daman you are going to be happy knowing I have switched to AMSOIL INTERCEPTER from the Blue Marble. Will save BM for my SX600R to use up.;)!

Going to try a 23/37 next year. Sounds more ideal to me. Dont wanna lose to much grunt out of the hole.

drive ratio for stock 23/38 is 1.65. A 24 tooth would give a ratio of 1.58.What you are thinking of using is 23/37 and that would give you a ratio of 1.61.You'll have to go to a 68 link chain then tomseal.

hey blue I have been reading your posts and I just can not beleive that you are having that hard of a time reaching over 100. Are you sure that you are not over looking something? What kind of distance are you testing at?? Is that 100mph on a gps is your gps accurate? (I know it sounds stupid!) I was out on the river at the beginning of the year with my 600. I don't have half the blueprinted skid or clutching setup you do and I am down a good 20hp and it was 35 degrees F and I saw 95....105 on the speedo......I was out a couple years ago and saw 114 on the speedo...about 105mph. At that time I had a bender clutch kit that was setup for trails over reving about 300rpm on the top and I also have a 1.25 ripsaw. Oh and my gearing is stock........You should kill me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you running on hardpack? How cold is it when you do your testing? How much do you weigh? Are you looking for all top end or are you looking to get there faster???? Go back over the things that you have done and make sure you are not scrumming off speed some where......I am just really interested in seeing what you find!! Good luck......RR

Thinking the same thing...my little 600 XTC can come close on the deam meter with a good pull...

over looking somthing....

I was just over at the sxr forum and theres plenty of people that have sxr700's with pipes saying they are pulling 120 on the speedo(take it with a grain of salt) but if they are correct he has to be!!!!!! Check stuff out!!!!!!Let us know....RR

LOL...gota love the Dream O meter!!!!!!

i'm running 24-39 and did 108 last year at the end of the season on snow ..will see this year with heel clicker now that i solved my piston burn with 160 main jet..seem to be a great gearing

IF THOSE GEARING CHARTS ARE ACCURATE, ITS INPOSSIBLE TO HIT 120. I THINK A SRX IS ONLY GEARED FOR 112. ADD 10 ON DREAM METER YOU HAVE YOUR 120. lol. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I'll tell you,I seem to be going faster then I ever did on my SXR600.Maybe my speedo goes the other way.It showing 100 really means it is doing 113 mph.I guess GPS would give me a correct reading, but don't have one.On ther river it is usually hard packed and a few weeks back hit 105.Yesturday there was fresh snow ,which could slow me down a little.Man sled is reving good, motor sounds strong at 8500 rpm dead on.I am about 170 lbs.with gear on.If memory serves me well, when I had chaincase apart in the summer, the gears where stock.I seemed remembering counting the teeth on them. The sled hauls when I pin it,actually track spins a little to easy with the crappy snow we have, but once it hooks up..look out.Climbs up the speedo fast.I ordered new green secondary springs.I noticed after my ride Sunday that one of the brass threaded caps popped off my exhaust pipe again. These caps are there because someone had sensors in the pipes(egt). Was blowing a little power out the hole maybe, but that couldn't keep me from topping out.
On one spot that I launched from, was packed and I will tell ya,the SRX launched crazy, ski's lifted up about 1 foot and she rocketed down the river, roughly a 3/4 mile stretch, but not over 100 mph on top, rpm's dead on again.I am stumped here.I used to hit 100 mph on my SXR600 a few ywars back, but it took more time to get to that point.SRX feels it is going more then 100 compared to the SXR.I have been using the primary clutch I bought off Turk just to see if there is any difference between it and the original,non..still same .Got to check and see if my brakes are on...lol.Up on a stand track turns nice and easy by hand also,no binding going on there.#$%&* #$%&* #$%&* #$%&* Can I say it...#$%&* MORE SPEED TO FILL THE NEED!!!!

Where can I get a 40 tooth sprocket without paying my dealer $80.00.Some sites I have gone to don't even carry that size top sprocket, but carry smaller size lower sprocket, ie: 37 tooth. For most situations the sled is fast enough on the trails and ditches, but onced in a while there are 1 mile staright lines on the river that I would like to bury the needle to 120,just to know that it can do it.

Last year when I bought this sled from a guy, without any wrenching or maintenace done to it,with stock track and 144 studs..stock clutching even...I would get up to 100 mph no problem and the push the throttle more and the needle would climb instantly to 105,then to 110 and was more pull left, but I had to let go because of the winding corner coming up on me.GO FIGURE!!!!And that was with a cracked up w-arm,rails worns thru, and stock everything.

Man the last time i checked 100 MPH was fast on a sled, what's with all
the need for more speed there blue buddy??

it sounds like you made it slower .maybe you should put it back to stock

suspension back to stock now.It has to be them HC's that is screwing me up here.Don't get me wrong there daman..100 mph is fast. And if no one believes that, jump off your sled when it is doing 100 and see how many times you bounce. Can I say OUCH!!!And when you pick youself up ,take a look and see how many times the SRX bounced also.If it is a minimum of 6 times...you are doing a true 100...lol.Daman do a bounce test at different speed and document it for us.Try at intervals of 20 mph.Start with 20, then 40 then 60 then 80 and finally 100.LMAO!!!Interesting to see your charting on that one.Can I say PAIN!!!!!
