The Polaris shaft for their top sprocket is 1 1/16" O.D. What diameter is the 02 SRX shaft. And are they a 15 wide sprocket .Royal Distrbuting has actual 24 tooth sprocket for 00-02 SRX,but they are out of stock. In the Polaris section they show that they will fit a 98-99 SRX ..15 wide chain.Could that possibly fit an 02 SRX shaft also.

Some of the Polaris gears will fit and the 15 wide Polaris gear will work on a 98-99 SRX but not the 02'. 00-02 SRX's had 13wide HYVO gears. A 13 wide HYVO polaris gear should work as its the same spline diameter.

Can anyone else chime in on this.So the 02 sprockets are 13 wide for sure.I could order one from Royal then.So the Polaris shaft is the same as the SRX shaft/spline.

MONSTER, 2000 AND AFTER POLARIS XCR 800 GEARS ARE 13 WIDE HYVO. THEY WORK ON 2000-01-02 SRX. THEY ALSO ARE CHEAPER THAN YAMAHA GEARS. ANOTHER GEAR THAT WORKS IS 97 VMAX SX 700 GEARS. THEIR 13 WIDE HYVO AND CHEAPER THAN SRX GEARS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

THANK-YOU VERY MUCH THERE TONY FOR THAT INFORMATION.I AM STILL KEEPING THEM HC'S IN CASE YOU ARE TRYING TO BE NICE TO ME....LOL... SHIPPING ONLY $250..THAT IS CHEAP MAN.

The earlier pro-actions were not a hyvo gear and chain set. This was done around 2000 (I'm not sure). The first run was silent chain and gears. They were 11w, 13, 15w. The sx sleds came with the 13 and the srx's were 15. Lots of guys dumped the 15's for 13's as they were lighter overall.

The hyvo is also a 13 wide chain, but it is listed as 3/4"hyvo in most catalogs. The hyvo stuff interchanges across brands (for the most part) with some spacer changes/machining. The 13w silent also interchanges across brands (again most of the time). They two will not interchange with each other as the gears are cut different and the chain is not the same.

For a decent look at the differences and what is the same look at www.wps-inc.com
Go to the 2008 snow catalog and about page 598.

polaris hyvo will fit but you need to cut of the spacer on the gear.

So, would a polaris bottom gear actually sit out more on the shaft than a Yamaha? I had my chaincase apart the other weekend (00' SRX) and when I went to put it back together I couldn't find the bottom spacer that goes behind the gear. I went and purshased another one but when I went to assembly everything it seemed like the gear was out more than the top. Without the spacer the washer and bolt would bottom out on the driveshaft end and the gear would be free to move a slight amout, kind of like the secondary clutch. Its a 40T bottom so now I'm wondering if its a Polaris gear??? Maybe the previous owner bought a Polaris gear and just removed the spacer allowing the gear to free-float a bit??? How wide is a Yamaha bottom gear at the spline?

Both the Polaris HYVO and the Yamaha have 1"/15 splines, the gear pitch/shape is the same. Polaris however, incorporates the spacers on the gears. The bottom gear on the Yamaha if you measure through the gear is 22.5mm, the Polaris will be 1/8" thicker. The upper gear on the Yamaha has no shoulder on it and the Polaris will have what looks like a 1/4".

Jay, if you think you have a Polaris lower gear and a Yamaha top, you can just tighten the top gear and use shims like the ones behind the secondary to move the bottom gear out where it needs to be, just put a straight edge across the chaincase and align them.

Hey thanks for the info. Also, looking forward to getting the track. I sent you a PM.

Well, sure enough I had a Polaris bottom gear. It measures 25 mm through the spline. I drove it like this for awhile so I suppose my chain is now destroyed. I'm lucky it didn't fly apart. Just ordered a bottom gear from Yamaha. I'll see if I can sell the Polaris 40T gear to recoup some money. Anyhow, I'm glad I checked. Thanks 800.

Or you could take the P gear down to 22.5mm and use the Yammie spacer, did you price that yammie gear? Grab your chest. I have them.

Also, because we know someone was screwing around in there, when you get the correct pieces in the case, before you tighten the bottom gear, loosen the set screws on the bearing on the opposite side. The drive axle is located off the chaincase when you tighten the lower gear, finish up the chaincase then tighten up the screws last.

They aren't cheap however to me its worth having the right stuff in there as I plan on keeping this sled. Now that you mention it, when I was removing the drive axle I notice it was pushed through more than normal on the speedo side. I assume that would be because the guy before me didn't have the spacer in there. When I put the spacer in, with the incorrect gear, that probably pulled the axle in the opposite direction too far. I never would have thought of that. Thanks again. I guess even my drivers would have been out of alignment. I ordered a new chain as well. I noticed my chain oil was very dark, almost like metal in it, very fine though. The alignment problem was wearing things.
