I just got back from the Radar Run at Oastler Lake in the Parry Sound area today (Saturday Feb. 23, 2008. Was anyone else out there?
It was my first Radar Run and this was a 1/4 mile.
My 3 times were 93.1, 93.5, 93.6... I was happy with this as I beat my buddies 2005 Ski-Doo 800 each time. How crazy is that! Both sleds have 96 studs. I absolutly killed his 2005 600HO as well. I was not expecting to beat the 800 at all though. What kind of times are you other guys seeing out of the Viper in the 1/4.
No 600 stocker of any make come close to me... I beat most 700's and many 800's... There was an F7 doing 96's... so that has me beat.
Just thought I'd post some real Radar speeds.

I would really like to see a well set up Viper run. Mine is stock except for studs, but with some of the clutching and tuning many of the guys on here do, I'm sure the Viper would perform even better.
I was extremely happy with mine, and maybe it's set up great from the factory! :)
I would have really liked to have seen an SRX and a Vmax800 run, but none showed up while I was there.
Fastest I saw was a Ski-Doo 1000 with NOS... It broke 115. A turbo RX 1 from Seguin Marina ran 112.

I never have entered in a radar with my Viper. I would need studs and a lower profile track, but I would sure like to try it. I did 102 on the GPS last winter while the speedo was saying 108-109. What it would do in the 1/4 mile.......hmm, not sure ,but it sounds like you did well against the competition you had there. I did run a couple of my older sleds in a couple of radar runs years ago. I turned 83 with my old 1988 fan cooled Phazer and 93 MPH with my 1990 Exciter I had ported and tuned by Pat Hauck.

that's a fun event. your speed is very good for a stock viper.
feb. 2003 i was staying @ the jolly roger in parry sound & saw the flyer for the park-side oastler lake resort radar run the next day. i trailered over & entered my bender srx. it started to snow & by the end of the event the snow was coming down so hard we couldn't see the truck @ the finish line from the start area. i had the fastest speed of the day & won overall - 112 mph. won a bunch of cool prizes.

i wouldnt worry too much about the clutching, i had mine clutched a few years ago, and ive noticed no difference, theyre responsive from the factory, cant help the fact that yamaha knows how to build sleds!! buy some reeds n some pipes, and go at it,

I won

We rode 170km to the run and ran my 98 srx clutched with boomer's weights [THANKS BOOMER!!!!!] it ran 95,99,101. It was a little rough on the way back but we made it. Not bad for a sled that was written off 5 years ago from being rear ended. Stock 2000 srx track, 96 1.087 cheappy studs down the middle with at least 4 years on them. It spun till past the second pylon then hooked pretty good, they should have moved the start 200' down later in the day as it was really soft. I am a happy guy. Thanks to TY for all the posts about SRX's and now I think I need some more suspension for the bumps.

Viper

Was up in and around Grayling MI and a guy there had a new'ish style yamaha((Attak..spelling)) . He was stompin people left and right. His wife has a Viper that out runs his ((Attak..spelling)) lol

there were nbssr radar runs at rockys on lake whanapatei , you might be able to compare your speeds if they posted the results www.nbssr.ca i think , i seen alot vipers go through and not one impressed me not even the super improved one (it looked cool though) i think your time was really good , there were over 300 sleds there on sat , most vipers i seen were running 98 to 102 in 2000 ft.
