Yamaha rated/ advertised the 03 rx1 at 145 hp from the factory.

They did not go to 150 HP ratings until they were EFI'd, in the Apex machines

Your right turk on "real world numbers" thats probably what is it but
i remember clearly yammie advertised them at 145, plus it states it in
the sales brochure...i'm looking at it right now..

don't shoot the messenger,,just repeating what yammie advertized...lol

From the RX-1 sales brochure....

The question wasn't advertized hp, but rather hp of the 03 RX1. After the sled was released dyno numbers were more in line of what Turk said, 135-137.

Track HP would be nowhere near 135HP either, not even close. Most sleds are said to make a little more than 50% of their power at the track so probably 70-80HP at the track I'd guess.

geez guys, some of you sure get worked up.

I know my 116hp Xc was actually rated on a track dyno at around 60 hp at the track. It was ina snowtech mag a while back. I figure shortstop is probably about right with his estimates. a track and the rest of the sled drivetrain sure suck a lot of HP out by the time it hits the rollers. Tracks really suck a lot of HP.
I like track dyno's since like wheel dynos for bikes and cars, at least it is real world hp and tq, and not showing the drivetrain loss that you have. Also, clutch tuning actaully is a quantifiable thing with the track dyno, and not a butt dyno thing. Sure, a drap strip will do the same, but there are other varibles with track surface and such.

And while yami advertised it at 145hp, we all know that is crank, like EVERYONE else rates them at. That is a motor vehicle way of advertising. cars, sleds, bikes, PWC all rate with crank hp. For instance a newer 295hp 5.3 liter chevy truck only puts down ~200 to the wheels.
