As a lot of you know already,I put in a long travel SXR skid in my 02 SRX this past summer.It came with Maxximum Perf. Rods,which are bolted to the second hole in the rails(back hole).Just recently I replaced the rear shocks back to stock short travel on the same skid.But I didn't do anything with the rods.They transfer sum,but maybe not enough.What I understand by reading up on the subject,a shorter rod is to be used and in the first hole on the rails.What difference does this really make? If I adjust the rods to the third line from the top,I will get a 50/50 setting while sitting on the sled.But it really seems hard to get the skid to compress....getting transfer in other words.It moves a bit but takes like 2 people to sit on the back seat to get the rods to move a little after the 50/50 spacing.Also I noticed the back of the track is off the floor,and not sitting flat.Can't find my stock rods anywhere,must have thrown them out.Do I really need to get shorter adjustable rods to fit the first hole position.Something tells me that I am not getting a proper transfer.Could someone please explain how to setup this part on the skid?My front shock is at 0 preload,rear shock is set up stock preload as per manual.Limiter straps are pulled stock measurement and 1/4" more so that the straps are just snug when sled sits on the floor.When I sit on the sled,the track does go down flat to the floor.Is this a normal thing and nothing to worrie about?It is more about the transfer rods I like to set up right.HELP!!!!PLEASE.....

hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Another thing is,what would a finished height be off the floor to the rear bumper with no one sitting on sled.I realize there is a process to get your set-in dialed in to.Just need an explanation how to properly get this.I am 170 lbs with no gear on and have FRA set at soft.That is supposed to good for up to 185 lbs weight.Anything after that you would put FRA to middle setting.

I just bought an 01 SRX, I could not find transfer rods anywhere for the sled. So, I took out the top bushings on the stocks ones and it will hang the ski's for at least 150yrds. on the lake.

just wanted more speed at the end.With long travel,you lose some speed on top.The shocks I removed were re-valved and I will put them on my SXR600 for a better ride.SRX is my speed demon,SXR is my ditch banger.

my sled sits about 20 inches from floor to rear bumper with the stock proaction skid and shocks......i also have no idea how to adjust the FRA is there a special tool required and can it be done while its in the sled? how can i tell if its set it soft, middle, or hard positions, and if i were to change it to hard would that put any stress on suspension parts such as the W bar? like it doesn't get enough stress already....

no special tool just un loosen the nut slightly then turn the bolt it'll
ratchet it's self up or down..

look under your sled,you'll see it;

FRA adjustment....

If you raise the back end off the floor,loosen the nut ..you can push the shock ahead or back like nothing.I can't do it as instructions tell,my threads must be stripped.

I think your transfer rods are OK as long as your gap is set properly.
The rod only transfer when they bottom out. So if your in the middle they are the right length.

The rods should never bottom with just your weight and\or someone elses.If they do you have a bad shock.When i am trying to figure something out like you are i look at what settings i have and go the total oppisate.So back the rods right off,put the fra on hard,take some tenshion off the big spring,put some tenshion on the front shock and go try it.THAN FIND A HAPPY PLACE somewere inbetween with your settings.You know go out on the rat and giver crap.
