Was usung my original SRX clutch when doing my testing yesturday.I thought about a bog,but that usually happens at loe end launching, usually a lean bog issue. But once in a while when I pin it,the motor rev's up like normal...then all of a sudden it seems to hang-up...if that is the term to use.Doesn't happen very often, but once in a while. It's like from a standstill I rev the motor to about 3500,just below engagement and pin it.It usually always shoots right up to 8400-8500 and I am on my way.But sometimes when I do a launch like this ,it'll go like it should ..but then seems like it stalls at about 7800rpm and won't go more, motor sounds like it is having a hard time.I let go throttle for a split second and back on it and it revs out to 8500.It is not starving for fuel..that I know.Between the 2 clutches I am using, can't remember if it just happens with one of them.So I will switch the weights over to my spare clutch and run that one for now on and take note of the situation.I will try to do a process of elimination.Again this doesn't happen all the time.
I notice the weights in the clutch have some side play with the washers on each side of them. The weights don't even come close to the towers when I move the weights manually.Do these washers wear down and need replacing? On my 600 the washers are all original and with over 10,000 km's on them.If it is anything,it could be bushings in the clutch or the concave plastic guides that the sheave slides up and down against under engagement. Not really sure.Just want to know if someone has had symptons of this sort.I was thinking of rebuilding the clutches with new parts anyways.Think I will take the clutch off my 600 since I had the bushings and glides replaced on it before last season.Haven't put many km's on that sled since I got the SRX.If it works good,I guess my original SRX clutch needs some up-grading.THANKS AGAIN GUYS>>>>>>Doug

have you tried unplugging your tps or loosening your throttle cable . if you hammer the throttle and your cable is border line tight , your tps will send signal to retard timing until you relax the throttle motor sounds like shit . just a suggestion. if you already tried that you might want to go to your pilots next if you pin it and it bogs there is a good chance your lean on one cylinder , let it iddle for a while and do a plug check as you are on the pilot circuit . and increase the pilot on the lean cylinder .

kinda sounds like that.I am very sure that my cable has spec plus for tension. But engine does sound like blahhhhhhhhh!!!! when it happens.I already have 50 pilots,so lean bog should not exist.Idles down great..no hang up.Was thinking maybe I could be on the rich side. I could drop pilot size again if need be.I will run at idle for a while and then check plugs for wetness.

???????????

Why would the TPS even come into play here. When you have throttle right to the boards,it is eveident the cable is tight in order to be in that position. It is not like I am forcing the throttle because the cable is tight, throttle goes all the way to the bar. :dunno:

i had a similiar stuation with my 98 and believe it or not the parking break was intermittenly hanging up.the lower spring had moved from the detent spot it was supposed to be and the outer pad would rub the disk.i put the spring back, adjusted the cable and the problem went away.

well I investigated the situation today with the throttle. When I hold the throttle right to the bar,the cable is tight enough that you can play a tune on it.I mean it was so tight that the bracket above where the cable adjusting nut is and the locknut, that the actual bracket will actually move or twist when I held the throttle down.So I loosened the cable more, and now when pinned, there seems to be some tension relief on the cable now.THanks for that heads up there harness racer.

hold the throttle wide open and try to move the lobe on the carb rack were the cable hooks up to upwards if you can not move it you can loosten some more a litttle at a time and you will get it . if you have it wide open and the lobe does not go up your still to tight and may activvate the tps ....get it right as i suggest you do not run with out it plugged in ... if you ever freeze a carb you will be happy you got it

I have the the same problem that you have. I can ride all day long with no problems. Get out on the lake with the boys and bang it hangs up about 7500 or so, I let off and and back to the bar and it runs good. This only happens from a dead stop. I asked this question last year and I got no answers. It feels like clutching to me but I dont think it is. I dont know what it could be.

yeah!!!It happened to me again today.Alot of times it was good, other times it would hang up at around 7500-7800.Pisses me off.Didn't have to deal with that before. Now one thing comes to mind.It is very warm out now, like 0 C and my jetting is a little richer from stock.Could that have something to do with it.Bet if it was cooler out,it might not do it.But this is getting silly already.Got my clutching right on,hitting 110 on speedo consistantly. When it does this it is a terrible sound the engine makes.Like blah and I have to back off the throttle and pin again.I am not even using HC's anymore,so there should not really be any real load on the motor as before.I still have 50 pilots in the carbs to.Figured I will back the screws back down to 1.5 turns, but the idle hangs up then,so had to open up to 2 -2.25 turns to solves this issue. So why would I be having idle hangups or lean bog with 50 pilots at 1.5 turns.Others still have 42.5 pilots and have no bog.But when she launches out of the hole and climbs clean..lookout.Got my transfer right and that sled hops off the line and really pulls hard like it should. My ski's are not lifting to terrible at all.Just skimming above the snow.Went and measured the areas I launched from, and noticed where the track was working, there were no ski lines for up to 500 feet.Crazy pull man,I am loving it.Found a real nice flat area and about 20 feet wide that was smooth.Man my launches are powerful and it is instant get up and go.Sled pulls violenty and I have to hang on I'll tell you.Got to solve this hang up at 7500-7800 someghow. My throttle cable is not tight either to cause TPS to cut in.What the hell could it be?I will change my weights into my other clutch and see if it happens there to.If it doesn't,then it was the clutch..

If Your Off The Line And Climbing To 8000 Rpm There Is No Chance Your On The Pilot Circuit , If Your Bared Your On The Main Jet Circuit So Forget The Pilot Idea And Try That Other Clutch . Did You Machine That Clutch For Those H.c. ???????????

I try other clutch I got from Turk. The original clutch has like 4000 miles on it,maybe needs new bushings or something.Man this sled rocks right now, more then it did with the heelclickers I hate to say.I did no machining to the clutch with the HC's.
I noticed the weights can wiggle a little side to side, but does not touch the sides of the towers. How much play is acceptable in there.Do you have to change them side washers more often.Maybe I can make some thin thin spacers to go in there,as long as the weights can still rotate easily.I will see and think of something.Did you solve your issue there harness racer with yous.

No I Am Too Busy Stripping A 97 Venture Right Now , Today Was A Computer Day Too Cold In Shed -25 + Celcius , But Sold 2 Trailing Arms And A Complete Clutch 8dn 20s And Spring So We Can Eat Good Balogna Tonight .
My Srx 600 Is Sitting Outside , I Will Get To It Next Week Before The Races On Sat.sun. If There Is A Bushing Binding In Your Clutch It Will Be The Cover Or The 2 Sheave Bushings Not Likely To Be Associated With A Weight As You Would Recognize That Out Of The Hole Not Top End . Maybe Even Something Simple In The Sec. Like A Helix Bushing Or Your Buttons , Seen One Break Off Last Week -end At The Races , Poor Fella Was Killin Himself Till I Had A Look .

Well I switched my weights over to my spare clutch. Will put it on and give her a shot tomorrow.I replaced my buttons on my secondary already.Bushings realy look good to.I should disconnect the TPS and run it like that all day and see if it happens again. That's all I am going to do right now about. And yes it only happens from a dead stop ....when you pin it,but again not all the time.I just want to enjoy riding tomorrow. We just got a fresh blanket of snow. But wouldn't you know it,tomorrow morning there are supposed to be hi winds...same bullsh*t again. The snow will be pushed away, but on the river snow should be ok because of the shelter of trees and river banks.

it only happens to me on a dead stop and when I put it the bar. If I slowly put it to the bar nothing happens???

You can check for binding in a clutch by removeing the spring ,rebolt the end cap and slide the sheve in and out seeing if there is alot of play side to side or binding on the tower.Rebuild kit should have pin bushings for the weights new pins and washers for the sides, and a cap bushing that you should check for binding when installed because they do need to be filed sometimes.I turn the cap over upside down and try on the tower untill it slides nice. These parts all wear out and you will see a differance just watching things as you go along. You should see a performance gain but i dont think it would solve a bog. That is a sticy power valve from what i have seen on my sled!Even when you think they are clean your Rideing Dirty.

well here I am again.Went thru my PV's yesturday and none were stuck and no pull thrus either. So I took them out and cleaned them up again.Adjusted them to 2.5 mm settings. The servo motor also works.I also switched clutches and ran the sled today. It is only if I pin it from a dead stop that something hangs up the motor around 7000-8000 rpms.If I am already rolling and pin it..it is fine. This is really bugging me because this problem was not there a few weeks back.Throttle cable also has the required slack in it.So if it is TORS,why would it interupt now.How would you even disconnect the stupid thing.#$%&* Going crazy here.
