I heard a squeel coming from the primary clutch/crank area at low RPM's(idling), is it what I think it is??? It went away after I brought the RPM's up...

I dunno, but my venture does the same. It has a new belt, and the sheaves were cleaned.

keeping posted....I am sure someone has an answer. It has to be in the clutches.

to squeal or not to squeal..is that the question????

as long as your clutches are truely lined up and centered. The 3 bolts behind the secondary sheave, has washers that can be added or subtracted for belt rideing hieght.I put a new belt on the X and it squealed to.Took out the washers from behind, but belt dropped a little to low.So I found washers half the thickness and used them.Belt rides up,but not to high that it would cause a squeal. You want to get the belt hieght as high a possible with out squeal.

belt shuld be even or just above secondary right?
If this is for your '01 srx spec is 0.5 bellow to 1.5mm above secondary in that area, but try to keep it flush or above the sheave tho, just so it don't squeal..

If you set it to 1.5mm above or close to that and it still squeals your center to center is probably off. It should not squeal when it's set to 1.5mm above.
