How does one change the needle position? Do they need to be removed from the sled?

Nope, you can do it in the sled. It's not a hard job at all. It's a bit of a finesse job since you don't want to loose any of the little plastic washers in there. You will need a phillips head, a 2.5mm ball head allen (straight will work in a pinch) and some long precision needle nose. Remove the top caps from the carbs, then remove the two allen bolts securing the carb slides to the slide lifter. Then you can open the throttle (use a bunji cord to lock your flipper wide open) and the needle will lift from the slide and you can slide the needle off to the side and remove it to move the "C" clip where you need it. Be aware of the two small plastic washers, for a 1/2 clip move you need one on top and one on bottom. For a full clip move, you keep them both on the bottom. Re-install in reverse order and don’t over tighten the allen bolts. The same goes for the Phillips on the top caps. I moved these a lot, so I replaced the top cap phillips with 2.5 mm allen bolts for better service. NOTE: the little "C" clip may rocket across your garage when re-installing it on the needle. Wrap it in a rag so it gets caught in there if it trys to fly away. Doug

NY you forgot a tounge protector. I damn near chew my tounge in half everytime I had to change needle settings. The right posistion of the tounge hanging out of your mouth does help. LOL Maxdlx
Thanks
Lots of snow falling on Tug Hill right now. Another good week.
