Might be a stupid question but I just repaired my power valve(cable pulled through the back) I tapped the valve and inserted a stainless bolt. It looks awesome as I was very perticular, measured holes and slot with caliper and made a carbon copy of original. Question is? does the weight of the stainless in the valve compared to the aluminum make a significant difference?

Yes 800, I've tried welding them once before but they end up pulling out again because they become softer, and not everyone has access or is capable tig welding. I did this last night with just a few basic tool in the basement.Caliper was the most tech thing I used if you call that technical,lol...

I'm curious to know why they pulled through again? I have discovered mine pulled through 2 and the cable broke on the 3rd but it was due to lack of maintanence(i just bought this sled).is this a problem with properly maintained sleds too?Marker said:Yes 800, I've tried welding them once before but they end up pulling out again because they become softer, and not everyone has access or is capable tig welding. I don't think it is , I bought mine badly abused. I now cleand them two to three times a year. This one pulled out again because #1 the aluminum became soft because of welding (removing the anodizing from valve), or #2 I did a shitty job,lol... I've heard yamaha upgraded the new valve kits in 03 which iliminates the pounding of the snchor on the valve, I may be wrong though.
