Repaired power valve

ya I did the same I think, I just saw the permanent making on the bottle and figure that it would work, never thought of the high temp but hey that's why we come here right???
 
262 requires heat to remove,(if the threads are prepped correctly) use a solvent(quick evaporating ) to clean threads before applying 262,I'm thinking i should work fine.
 
I think I read that Loctite 271 high temp; high strength thread locker is good up to 300 degrees F. That valve is dissipating 1200-degree exhaust temps. Does anyone know how hot they (valve) get? There is not a water jacket around it. Maybe that is why when I pulled mine apart, using the high temp Loctite, and the valve and bolt had not one trace of Loctite on them. HMMMMM I hope we get an update. Using Loctite on your suspension or on a water pump is an environment it is made for.
 
Ya I looked it up and loctite 271 and 2045 driloc are both good for high temp. I put my repaired valve in today, adjusted valves and gave the old boy a fleecing, came back home and took the valve out again and it wasn't that hot at all. Everything looks good but I'll know more after the weekend. Also first try with the RX1 suspension, hard time keeping the ski's on the ground, need to do some fine tuning!!! feels good though,lol...
 
I took my repaired valves out last night. After 2000 miles the valves with the pins are loose. The insert wiggles quite a bit. I chased the threads and re pinned them. I will say this, these valves have lasted longer then any valves I have had in there. My sled has 7000 miles on it and I have gone through countless valves. If I have to buy new ones ever again I will put the stainless insert in right away.
 
I'm a little concerned about the loctite without pins but as I said i will keep a close eye on them this weekend. I threaded a full 1 1/4" and completely saturated with loctite, maybe that will help. Did you you thread that much as well Yamaha700srx??

Supposedly a NEW valve today is better,, Yamaha "updated" them with a stronger end.
 
That's good to hear, I know they upgraded the PV holder which apparently eliminates some of the pounding. The only thing to watch if buying them is, they still have old stock and you may get that before the new upgraded stuff...

Does anybody know if they have a different part# ?
