MM 700 shutted off.

Was driving only 4 km when the MM 700 suddently just shutted off the engine. Tried to pull the starter rope after it happened, but it was very hard to pull. Did only manage to pull alittle on the starter. Took it to the yamaha dealer, they didnt find anything wrong with it, they said the starter rope had been assembled the wrong way and fixed that. But they could not explain the shut down of the motor... Any ideas?

I bet it stuck a piston. You need to look in the spark plug holes to see whats up, or pull the head. Does it pull over and start now? Maxdlx

My guess is cold seize with only 4km on it when it went down.

What is "cold seize"? Going to check the pistons today.

or maybe the pull rope bound up and killed the motor

so its possible that wrong assembly of the pull rope could kill the motor? Was driving around a mile today, nothing wrong happened.

It is possible that the pull rope could do it, but not if it was installed right. Cold seize is when you start a sled, and run it at trail speeds with out letting it warm up. The piston warms up and expands faster then the cylinder, and it seizes because the piston is bigger now than the bore. Maxdlx
