Give me a story...can it be done from under the sled or does the motor needs to come out...any tips would be great...what is the best way to tackle this job...thanks for any input guys...

pretty much everything has to come out, engine, suspension, chaincase, driveshaft. its pretty much the first thing they put in the sled at the factory.

did you try getting it welded in place? or is it too bad for that?
Do you think they can tig a hole 5/8" x 3" vertical & dead center on the cooler?

It's a pain in the a$$, like redsnake3 said above. Except you don't need to take the actual chain case off, just take the lower gear off so you can get the drive shaft out. See pics and comments in my working log.

Nice pics...too bad none from the cooler work, just one pic...was it real hard to do...I plan on redoing all the bearings on the drive line, rotor & pads so the chain case is coming out, motor, tank so I will polish it up real good...thanks

anybody ever considered bypassin it and adding a extra in back?i know i guy that did that to a xcr and it workes good!

not enough cooling on a viper already, taking out the front exchanger is very bad. the rear exchanger is a great option to add though as you can never have to much cooling.

Yah, but you kind of get the point. Tunnel have to be jacked apart and everything has to come out. There is one Y pipe fitting that is a real bitch too because it seems no matter which way to turn the thing it hits something else.

No fun. Hope to never do it again.

is the front heat exchanger anything like on the srx? i was told by my dealer that the front Xchanger is actually part of the tunnel.....i mean if you mess that up, your screwed....was it only on certain years? it was just a random question that got brought up when i was asking about xchanger protectors....

front heat exchanger is riveted on just like on the srx, it is replaceable, although i cannot find it seperate on the compufiche. and yamerdown i completly understand what you are saying about that stupid little y. :o|
