For those of you who followed my posting under "Tech Challenge...Gas in Airbox" I have finally found the culprit with my horrible gas mileage on my stock viper with no mods.

I am 99.6% sure that is was the TPS on the carb rack that was faulty. The TPS is apparantly responsible for mid-range timing and when I switched out the carb rack I went from getting 80-90 miles per tank to 130-150. The carb rack that I got didn't have any jets or mains so I had to use most of the hardware from my old carb with the exception of the TPS.

Thanks for all the input and hopefully this might be able to help others who have had fuel mileage problems!!

I'm having the same problem right now. My 00' SRX only gets about 80 miles per tank. My older 98 was getting about 120 miles. I have some porting work done and jetted up a couple sizes but I didn't think that would increase my gas consumption by 35%. Can you replace the TPS instead of the entire car assembly?

To be 100% why don't you test the two for us and post up your
results????

i can post up the procedure for you if needed,,it would be nice to know
the variances between the two.

right but you don't need the tps attached to the harness to test, you can
test the old rack off the sled...

but anyway just an idea no big deal if ya don't have time....
