sx viper power valve action

I got the valves out tonight....not a pretty sight. I've got some pics, but I can't figure out how to post them. The FAQs said something about a browse button at the bottom of the dialogue box, but Ican't see it. (remember this is new to me...be kind) Hey wait a minute. I think I figured this our.
If the pictures should actually be attached, notice the high tech tool I used to pull the valves out. Does this condition look normal? I don't think the previous owner ever cleaned them.

yeah, them are dirty! you used a nail like I use a screwdriver :) work good? should look nice and shiny gray when you are done. you will notice a BIG difference when all done and back together lol!

with a tiny screwdriver, but used the same way. if the cables pull on it, so will I. but I dont just YANK on the suckers, a gentle tug and wiggling slightly side to side. works good, give it a whirl :)

WOW, those are dirty!!! You wont believe what your sled will run like when you get them cleaned up...Get to work...Good Luck...RR

Well Riverrunner, I couldn't believe how it ran before so I can't imagine. Where do you install a seat belt on a Viper anyway?? I think since they were stuck open, my real noticable change will be in low end grunt and maybe a little mid range, but what do I know. You guys are the pros, I'm the newbie. About the nail....these valves were so gunked up, no gentle wiggling back and forth would ever get them out. I was carfully working with a dental pick on the sides to dig out glop. These vavles obviously never flossed! I'm thinkin' Im gonna take all the components out of each valve housing since it looks like they've never been apart. Can anyone offer any wisdom as to what parts (gaskets,o-rings,etc) should be renewed? How about lubing the cables?

No other lubing should be needed...

replace part no's--29,41,36--replace 32,27 only if there damaged

8400 miles or so on mine, never replaced anything, no need. clean and put back togehter, then enjoy the ride!

Well the valves are squeeky clean and reinstalled. I in the process of readjusting and the servo seems to be acting a little odd. Maybe I just never noticed this before, but if you have your ear next to the servo when you turn the key, is it okay for it to be making a small hum after it quits moving or shouldn't it be energized at all. I guess I'll try adjusting the idle below 900 RPM, but I though if it was electric start you could just turn the key and that was the adjustment point. God you guys must be sick of fielding questions about these power valves!

thats why were here....

A ER viper sets the vales when the key is turned on yes..

But how about that hum? Should the servo be energized at all after it cycles?
Also when you turn the key on it only seems to go in one direction and stop, not back and forth before coming to rest. Any opinions?

doing what it should, uses the battery power to cycle them. its why viper idles nice and high when you first start it until you hit the gas a little. then the valves change position and the idle drops. no worries, doing exactly what it should :) if I pull the plugs off mine and pull it they will move with each pull of the cord.

iirc no hum, never put my ear to it,is it a loud hum, OR is it a jitter??

Thats exaclly what's is suppose to do turn counter clock wise a bit then
stop..

the hum is audible on mine, I wouldnt worry. I can and always have been able to hear mine as I come to a stop and the rpm drops below 4k I think. but I have really good ears :)
