If anyone has made this particular switch, I'd like the hear from you on your level of happiness :)
I'd like feedback on:
Accelartion:
Weight:
Top speed:
Fun in the twisties:
Did you stud?
Wind protection:
Rear Suspension quality:
Would you go back to a Viper at this point?

Thanks

I didnt make the switch, but my father has an 05 vector. acceleration is about the same, but top end and upper end of the midrange is better on my viper. his is stock and my viper has a monoshock, ripsaw (so does he), and is clutched. weight, they honestly feel about the same once you get the vector set up right. with the monoshock in the vector I would imagine it feels even better. top speed is certainly the vipers strong suit. I think the vector would do better clutched. fun in the twisties... they are both pretty damn decent, but the vector needs to be set up right, like I keep saying. my simmons made a nice difference too, so he got some on the vector lol! made his a LOT batter in the corners. that a-arm front is real nice! no studs on either sled. more wind on the legs on the vector, but not what I would call cold. rear skid is nice on his, but the mono is a superior skid.. with the vector gt it has the mono and it is HANDS DOWN better than what you are riding now lol!!! not sure if I would trade him or not.... one thing you havent mentioned is gas mileage, and he consistently gets 20-22 mpg range. I get about 15 on average I think. real nice to get above 20 and have all that low end tq!! hope this helps, ask away if you have more q's! Eric

For the record I've done some miles on a Vector, but don't own one

Accelartion: Vector for about 500' then the Viper smokes it

Weight: Viper is obviously lighter

Top speed: Viper, not even close IMHO

Fun in the twisties: Depends if its Sunday afternoon or not. I'd say Viper, but Vector isn't bad, especially when the trails get chewed up (FYI - one I was on had the mono-shock)

Did you stud? Both are studded.

Wind protection: Who cares, never been cold on a snowmobile in my life. Unless it's below -5c I wont have my jacket done up

Rear Suspension quality: Vector mono all the way

Would you go back to a Viper at this point? ummmm, yes. When I go 4 stroke (and I will some day) it would need to have 150HP to keep me happy. That said, I love my triple....

Looks like maybe I need to improve my rear skid, and pocket the $$

I added the mono to mine and it was the best thing I could have done. really makes the sled feel nice, and no need to long travel the front and mess with lots of adjustments. nice and light too :)

oh, whats -5*c in *f? I have been cold before, but I have ridden trails where my speed is a constant 65-70 and it is around 0* and lower. depends on where you ride I suppose!

Well -5c is 23f, but at that temp I'm just starting to do up the zipper on the jacket (about 1/4 up, pant zipper still open  ). -10c = 14f, the zipper is usually all the way, especially down a rail bed, but I'd probably open it up a little in the twisty stuff. Worst I've ridden in was -30c = -22f and I can assure you everythig was done up tight. Speeds were also down cause the wind chill was something crazy.
