Finally! Turk????

Hey guys,

I finally got my clutching all done. I got the parts in the mail yesterday. Today I put the 8DN-20 weights in. Along with a w/w/w Primary spings. I did put a 3/16" Spacer behind the spring. I also got the secondary all put together. I wrapped the Green secondary at 70* (6-1). I put the 52/42 Helix in without any problems. I got it all put back into the sled with no problems.

*Now I am need some torque specs. I need to know the primary bolt torque, and the secondary bolt torque?

*Rivets: I had (3) 4.5g rivets. They weighed in at 4.3g, And I put them on the inner hole. Is this fine?

*Rivets: I bought (3) 4.5g rivets. They weighed in at 4.4g, and I put them on the outter hole. is this fine?

I didn't get to check my engagement, due to not having the right belt or time. But thats I will do once I get my trailing arm in the mail.

Let me know what you think.

Nik!

Primary is... first torque to 85 ft. lbs,,then loosen, then re-torque to 43 ft. lbs.

secondary is....46 ft. lbs

Really 46lbs o nthe secondary. The secondary bolt is aluminum, Should it be? 46lbs seems alot for a bolt that weights like 10 grams, lol!

But how does everything else look?

I think you're gonna over-rev with that setup with porting, PI Pipes and heads shaved with that clutch setup. That clutch setup works great for me with a bone stock 2000 SRX.. but try it out and see how it works for you is the only way to find out.

^^ What are you hitting for max rpm?

I don't think imy mods will make that much of a differnece? Maybe a hundred or two RPM??? Who knows. I dont even know where my max torque or HP are..... So I now on a stock srx engine PI pipes make best power at 8350-8400. I say with my porting and mods, they might make best power at 8500 possibly???? WHO KNOWS! I might make a trip to my cousins place during the summer and dyno it!

I would recommend the dynoing over the summer!!! I too think that you are going to over-rev, but that is something that you will be able to fix with a little tweeking... Get it out and find out how she runs....Post back...GOOD LUCK...RR

I'm hitting 8500 rpm at WOT. On a 98 you should be running about 8300 which is where your pipes also like to run +or- 50 rpm. I don't really know if the case and cylinder porting would make more power at higher rpm or if it mostly stays at the same rpm, but it's definetly going to be making more power than stock... Definetly the best thing to do is take it to Gerry and Flav for a dyno run(lucky bugger... I need cousins like that lol) While you're there, run it on the track dyno after the engine dyno and see if you can dial your clutching in... do they have both an engine and a track dyno there??

Yeah oh lucky me! LOL!

Last time I was there I didn't see the track Dyno, but I seen it there before. I know they have the engine for sure. I will try and get it all dynoed and tuned there. If I was over-revving, How would I bring it down?

Nik!

And DAMAN thanks a lot!

To bring rpms down you just need to add a little weight to the primary, or take off a bit of spring or add helix angle to the secondary (adding weight to the primary is normally better until you start slipping the belt in the secondary... as a general rule, this isn't always the case) your cousins should be able to give you 100x the help I could give you on clutch setup... i'm what almost any serious tuner would call a rookie, where your cousins are what I would call serious tuners lol. You might be able to add some washers to your clutch rivets before you been them over to add weight. If you can go out and test what you're running and report back rpms we can get you close enough that you'll be happy for the rest of the season with a few attempts.

Yeah I think my season is done. I know not to much mroe snow is in the forcast, And I am still waiting for a damn trailing arm!

But I don't like to bug Ger and Fav to much. They have given me A LOT over the years, and they have more important things to do. I wouldn't like it if I had to tune my little cousins clutch if I had a 60k sled to build, You know?

But I will get them to do the dyno, And I will pay for it!
