Power valve cleaning

They have another name for the stuff that I have at work.. Its $100.00 for a gallon bucket of this stuff,,, but I use it to do carbs and it will eat whatever you got on a powervalve!!! DONT GET IT on your hands though!!!

what about mystery oil, it eats carbon out of engines :) maybe soak it in the stuff? I might try and post results.......

Combustion Chamber Cleaner. Can be bought in a spray can or just a pour can.If you run Yamalube you will be cleaning them every 1,000 miles.

GM and Chrysler sell Combustion Chamber Cleaner.Don't know about Ford or aftermarket suppliers.

yeah, that should work well. I actually have had more problems running synthetic than yamalube, but my valves are getting worn out with a lot of scratches etc. actually I never had a valve stick until I made a switch

If the cables are pulled, meaning the power valves are damaged, I've got a plan to fix them. I'm going to machine off the top of the valve where the cable connects to it, take the whole section off down to where the shape transitions to a larger dia.. I'm going to remake this section out os stainless steel or titanium the attach it to the valve with a threaded stud. I have a few electric discharge machining tools (wire and sinker) so making the right shape for the end of the cable will be easy. Of course I'll service them far more often than before but the cables will never be able to pull through the stainless steel or titanium. As soon as I get into it, i'll post some pictures. If it works, I'd be happy to repair these valves for members of TY. I love machining parts almost as much as sledding.

I have done this modification you mentioned, others on here have done the same as well and it works awesome. There were some questions on the type of thread lock to be used on the threaded S.S bolt, I used loctite 262 and have almost 1000k on the repaired valve and it's still threaded in tight. I clean them twice a season, some times three times, it only take short time to do it and it's worth the effort.

I use Red Stallion combustion chamber cleaner and it works great, I think what ever you use it will require a little elbow grease to get all the crud off of those things. I

Does anybody ever Clean the inside of the jug like the manual says? If so how do you keep the crap out of the jug?

Yep...using a pencil wrapped with a thin cloth fits in there like it was made
for it, what you do is turn the piston your working on to BDC then stick the
pencil wrapped with the cloth(with carb cleaner on it)in the cyl.(piston will
be out of the way because it's @ BDC)and pull "back" toward you so your
not pushing the crap in the cyl.,a few strokes on each groove will clean
them up,just remember to pull "back" and not push.
