Well did a clutch switching between my 2 sleds.Since the SXR had new bushings installed a few seasons ago and hardly put any miles on it,thought I'd switch the clutches and weights between the SXR and SXR.BINGO!!!!!
SRX is a beast again.NO more hang up on rpm's,instant launch from a standstill,at idle, pulls the ski's up 1 foot and hits 8200 and climbs.Unfortunatly all the snow is rock hard and my hyfax isn't really getting feed any snow,I just did about 20 launches along the ditch.Cannot test run with any speed because of the snow conditions being so crap like.Them 15 mm rollers really help clamp the belt .With the 8DN-20's with 4.5 g heel.5.4 g tip,y-w-y spring with 1 shim I am engageing at about 3700-3800 rpm.Got Red Spring wrapped at 70 with stock 47 helix also.So far I am not over=reving as far as I can see.
Now took the SXR out for a spin, and guess what,I am bogging or hesitating on launch. The clutch needs a rebuild.
Now this brings me to my next question.Did my SRX clutch stop the HC's setup to work properly.Anyways would like to see what I can get out of the SRX in speed and rpms ar WOT first, but that may be difficult.I could slowly run down the ditch looking for some good snow to run on and get to the river and open it up,but my hyfax may be taking a hit if I don't get some lubrication on them.
Come summertime,I will certainly get all three of my primary cluches rebuilt and the secondary clutches to.I am a HAPPY CAMPER AGAIN.Also I went back to stock BR9ECS plugs instead of the Iridium plugs.Sled seems to even start up faster now...what the
is up with that.I will stick to more stock setup. My transfer is about 60/40 now and she transfers man.Could bring it back to 50/50 to get ski's to stay down a little more. But it is fun again to see the SRX launch with ski's up a foot or more again.

Gonna take the SXR for a boot,it has ice sratchers on it.But they make a lot on noise, sounds like they are chipping concrete when I ride the sled.LOL
Your clutch sheaves are probaly warped. My buddy had that problem once he gained about 10 mph tru them up on the lathe.

don't know if they are warped pro.If I would replace all bushings, guides, washers and weight bushings,I think it wouild perform way better...like new again. Was taking sled for some launches along the field in my yard, the flatest place I can find right now and I am launching wicked.Sometimes I am getting the ski's up 2-3 feet in the air.Gotto back off the control rods a bit.Because I am cutting and breaking thru the hard snow and dropping down a foot,my front up is jumping up .This is the first time the SRX is performing good again. As soon as I switched clutches, everything is fine. Here I always thought I had a bogging problem due to pilots being to small, and trying right up to 47.5 pilots with no change..got me thinking.Put stock 42.5 pilots back in and same thing was happening. When I switched and ran my other clutch in the sled...bang.......all bog gone, instant response from a standstill..no hangup anywhere and pulls like a raped ape.Now this clutch and secondary from my SXR had new bushings and such put in a while back and seems to be the answer.I started to notice towards the end of last season that the sled was just starting a tad to be boggy from a launch.Thought it was from the warm temps.Well today it is warm here to,and no such problem.
Cluches are the heart of a sled.Things do wear out and should be replaced yearly to keep it at is optimum peak. The engine is strong, suspension went thru a total rebuild. The clutching was slowing me down by hanging up.Even my spare clutch I pu from Turk also caused a bog..I tried it..does the same, and he had replaced the movable sheave in it with a new one.

no daman, wife doesn't ride at all.Just took sleds out of garage to air out.Snow is like concrete out here. Can't take SRX far.Rode SXR acouple of miles,it was ugly the terrain.Rock hard drifts, grass, dirt, concrete roadways.I have ice scratchers on my SXR,so snow is thrown to the track to lubricate everything,it works great, but load on this snow.My SRX is reborn daman.LOL

I"ll listen to you daman for once...lol The long range forcast is the pits.Mild and only 20 percent chance of flurries. Now that I got the beast humming,I can't even take her out for a good run to see how she will perform now.
I guess I'll end up polishing up the sled and clean the grit off the suspension parts. Oh crap!!!!!But I love my SRX...

thanks riverrunner.I always am on top with maintaining them. With the price of new sleds today, got to take care of the old ones.We still have some snow, but if you like riding on concrete, that's what it is now.Rivers are starting to look a little wet in places to.Still hope for another blast of snow yet.

where the hell is Duck Bay.Love to come out,but doubt if I can.I have been having so much problems with my back lately.Got home from work today and am suffering from a major lower and upper back pain.Having a hard to to even walk straight. With all the lifting that I have to do at work,it is all catching me up.Mind you,a good ride on the sled may fix my back,I don't know.Since I got home..I took a muscle relaxant(prescription ones that my wife takes),took Acetaminophen with codeine and ibuprofen all to combat the pain.I feel like a zombie right now, just floating a little. Are my sledding days numbered..don't think so,but have to watch my back more often then not.
