Anyone know what or how many recalls have been sent out on these monsters(SRX), I have a 98, bought it ttwo years ago and not sure what shuld be done or has been done??? 
The 98's had a crank recall, but that's it.

Take your VIN number to your dealer or call yamaha so they can run it and see if your crank has been updated..

there was also a spindle issue.

If it was studded and remotly driven like it was intended the crank and spindles would have most likely been done. Only heard of one 98 that never had the crank done.
things to look for:
Crank
spindles
check front W-arm (rear susp) for cracks and if it had the larger bumnp stops
track, if it is the origonal get ready to repalce it.
keep the chain adjust up properly (no spring tension std)
If it has stock clucthing you have about 6-7 sled lenghts to gain out of the hole.
