Just a heads up incase it ever happens to you.
We were out this past weekend and I was leading for quite some time. I had a constant speed and engine RPM for the better part of 10 minutes when we came upon a few stops. The first one the sled did not want to idle down when I let off the throttle and the second stop I lost nearly all throttle movement.
I pulled off the trail and took a look at the cables and did not find anything wrong. No binding though it felt like it was a mechanical stop when you squeeze the throttle. So I took off the right side carburetor's top cap and did not find anything there either. Decided to look under the left cap before I had to take more off the motor to take a look. When I took off the left side cap however I found the screw that the linkage is mounted to the shaft backed all the way out. It was hitting the underside of the cap. I tightened it down and screwed the covers back down and were were underway again.
I have never touched those screws. It is quite odd that it would abck out the way it did but I am glad it happened the way it did instead of sticking the slider in the open position.

Funny you have posted this, two seasons ago had a problem with my
brothers '94 vm one side(mag) wouldn't run when on the throttle, but would idle nice all day, anyway i did the same as you pulled the top off and the screw was half out or out, don't remember now, so the shaft was just sliding in the arm,so i removed it put a drop of loc tight on and haven't had a problem yet...
so yep it can happen

Ya strangest thing.
When I have them out next time and re-sync them I will be putting a little dab of lock tight on it. Oddly the right and left screws are different on my carburetors.
Going to replace all the fuel lines as well they are getting a bit stiff and since they are 11 years old I figure maybe it's time.
