Me and my buddy were on mountain bay trail in marathon county..... its an old railroad, so its pretty strait.... we were doing some runs on it cookin' it pretty good down the trail.....i had no problems what so ever..... we weren't going full wot from start up it was more of starting gradually to get to the high speeds due to the long straits......
My buddy has a 99 srx and noticed after doing a couple of high speed runs that his clutch was engaging sooner then before.... its at about 3000 rpms now and if you go slowly up to the 3000 it bogs right before it engages.... but after you get past that point it runs as if it were normal.... it didn't do this before..... checked belt, it was sittin good in the secondary, and the belt didn't appear to be glazed or worn... I can only come to the conclusion that the clutches are binding... Springs looks good..... He has a red spring in the primary and a red spring in the secondary with a bender racing housing over the spring in the secondary.... no idea what kind of clutching is in his 99 srx, but i know its not stock...
We want to figure this out, but i am fairly green in the field of snowmobile clutching.....
Thanks
Joe

check and see if you did not loose a weight pin bushing and the weight is eating away at the tower , causing a hang up or binding .

Where to look? does it involve a tear down of the clutches? i can compare the clutches off of mine to his, i'll have to look more into it, pictures would be much appreciated.... thanks.

If the clutch is binding I would say it would engauge higher than normal.
What is the belt thinkness, how many miles on it ? I noticed on my 98 if the belt really gets worn it will slam when engauged witch could cause a bog at low RPM. Or the belt could of just plainly got over heated and got stickey.

Spring in primary appears to be in two pieces.... Not loose though. Problem right there?
