srx compression o ring mr viper-turk -800-valin -anybody
i just lifted the heads on a 98 600 srx and noticed all the tabs from the compression o ring were facing the piston. From what i can remember they should face the outside . does it really matter and wht is the consequence if installed facing in ???????????//
The reason i pulled the heads is i could here a whistling sound if i applied a bit of throttle . The temp light never came on (if it works) there was no leaks apperent and it appeared that there was circulation in the in line bottle .
compression m-128 c-132 pto 135
upon inspection the pto water ring is melted a wee bit approx 3/4 inch .
is this a cause of the compression ring tabs facing in?

what tabs on the compression o-ring are you talking about? what are you considering the compression o-ring.....the litte inner brown o-ring for the head?

yep the little inner brown one.....they have these little tabs on the side.
They seem to naturally go to the inside but when you look at it logically they should go to the outside holding the o ring closer to the piston. hard to explain unless you see it.

now I know what you are talking about. when i did srx top ends, i would just install the o-rings to how they naturally wanted to go, which was with the little tabs to the inside. never had any problems with the o-rings installed this way. how big of a difference does it actually make? what would it change?
