how close are the 2 and how much mileage is lost on an sxr when you put triple pipes on it? I am trying to decide between a viper or an 01 sxr700. Thanks

my viper usually will get about 100 miles to the tank in powder or messing arounf in fields. up to or over 150 miles per tank and flat smooth hard trails

They should get about the same stock, fuel mileage will suffer when you put pipes on.If you wanna go fast and get great mpg buy my srx.

I actually own both and I'd say on avg the 700 SXR gets about an additional 2mpg over the viper.

i ride with a 700 sxr and he gets half the mpg i get with my viper mine is amzing on gas about 180 to 200 miles to the tank on 89 pump gas i love it put the can on and the mpg goes down the drain. eny idea what the oil comsomtions of the viper is how meany times can i fill my tank befor i need to put more oil in. long trip coming up and whould like ot know if i should bring lots or minimal oil i ues ipone good stuff prob gona be riding about 1200 to 2000miles this weekend.

Well on a Viper i would be uping the oil pump a little from all the bearing's
going to hell this season.

i would shoot for a 40-45:1 mix,thats like 34-38oz's of oil per tank(12gals)
of fuel, so a little over a qt per tank of gas.

have you checked all your cable free play's? where is your oil pump set to??

I generally get 10-14 mpg with a all time high of 16 mpg on some flat and hard groomed trails recently.I could hardly believe it thats not the norm for me 10 is low and that 16 is the exception, 13-14 is the most common.I am quite pleased with my sx-r, a 500 ski-doo that I used to have was'nt much better on fuel and it did'nt have nearly the power of the 700!

I get 13-15 mpg on the viper, usually towards the high end of it :) my wifes 600 sxr gets a bit less, and about twice the oil is used!
