want to get a set of these next fall when i get my srx out of storage, i know they are 300 some bucks, is it as easy as putting them in a going, or is there a rejet involved or what?
What do i gain, supposidly more power and acceleration? snappier throttle?
Thanks

On an otherwise stock motor your not gonna see a big improvment over the stock reeds.I would use the money for clutching.Heel clickers, adjustable transfer rods, porting is money well spent.

Thanks, any input is much appreciated, i want to do as much as i can to my sled with out actually loosing power, and i don't want to be wrenching on it more then riding it with upgrades........
What are Heel Clickers? heard of them, i thought it had something to do with getting better traction or something, where can i get adjustable transfer rods for an 01 srx?

I agree...strock OEM reeds on a stock motor is about as good as it gets, blueblooded said:On an otherwise stock motor your not gonna see a big improvment over the stock reeds.I would use the money for clutching.Heel clickers, adjustable transfer rods, porting is money well spent.
focus on clutching, you'll get more there...

Heel Clickers are adjustable flyweights. I've never used them but most tuners love them because they are easy to work with and adjust. Do a search on them, there must be a million post about them on here.
As far as the adjustable transfer rods go... you could pic up a used set here on TY in the classifieds.

for a inexperienced tuner ....i would shy away from them, look at the trouble bluemonster1 was having, went back to the tried and trued set up and he's happy as hell.JENSEN said:Heel Clickers are adjustable flyweights. i think you need some sort of "knowlage" of clutching to make them work,a
newbe would have nothing but a head ach try to get them to work..

I agree. a buddy of mine has the heel clickers (on a '00 srx) as well. keeps messing with em cause they are never right. set it up to like the sheet says and no good. readjust and still no good. better low to mid, but loss on top end. some say to run a helix with a very shallow angle (ex. 48/36). i personally have the heavy hitters and love em. seem to be much easier to tune/use than the heel clickers.

talked to my dealer who also races sleds.... Says the best thing you can do for your sled if you have no knowledge on clutching and only use it for trail riding is to keep it maintained and keep it stock.......they said they can sell me the parts for the clutching that i'd need but they don't really deal with tuning it to what i want, and i don't feel up to messing with my clutches................................ Damn. I want to be able to say that i put some aftermarket stuff on my sled, but my own inexperience with modifications to sleds is getting the best of me.

I had my heel clickers set up by a pro from Bender Racing. He told me there isnt a clutch set up he can give me that will perform as good as the heel clickers.I told him i heard you lose top end with them and he said not if they are set up correctly.I have no idea what is in mine but it rocks,it pulls very hard all the way through. He told me to expect 120+ top speed with this set up.This is on a trail ported motor.I did buy a set and put them in my 01 srx with good results. They work great, you just have to put the time in to dial them in.

I hear ya,,and there's nothing wrong at all with that,but.....sometimes you can get great performance outa stock parts set up right,i'm not trying to tell you what to do at all, just from what i'm seeing on this site with other members, you might be over your head trying to work with HC if you know nothing or little about clutching, yes thats how we all learn by "hands on" but i think you need some knowledge to start, not bashing you at all my friend just saying...Yamidude59 said:Damn. good luck with what ever you choose..

I have Heel Clickers in my stock 2000 SRX 700. I like them because you can tune them for the conditions that you ride in the most with the supplied rivets, then it only takes minutes to fine tune them to daily trail condition changes if you want without removing them from the clutch. I had no clutch tuning experience so I got Olav Aaen's Clutch Tuning Handbook.

Very informative reading. You can get aftermarket weights or tune your stock weights and get similar results. Good luck whichever way you decide to go.

I agree, once you figure out what each location will do on the weight(heel, center and tip) you can begin to experiment and try different set ups. They are also nice becuase if you add mods to your sled you can adjust your clutch to the added horsepower instead of buying new clutch parts all the time.

yeah, reading the aaen book helps out alot. i totally agree that adjustable weights are the ticket when adding mods, cause you can add more weight to whatever location as you add ponies to the sled.

I purchased an 01 SRX this winter to jack with. Mostly for lake racing and some trail riding. Called Hauck and told them what I was looking at doing and they sent me a clutch kit. It turned out to work perfect. I gave them my weight, other mods I was doing, they suggested a few mods, gearing, overdrive sheve. Man this thing rocks!!! Up against 1000 Yammi 4-strokes, Punched out 900 conFusion Polaris, this sled took them all...hands down. Also, on the transfer rods. I looked everywhere and could not find them. So, I took the top shim out of the stock ones and put a thinner one in 2.5mm, and this thing will hang the skis for 150 yrds. The front end comes up maybe 6in and stays there. Lots of fun to ride.
