alright im having troubel dialing in my sled. ive got 15mm rollers hcs with red primary, im running 6 grams tip, 4.3 mid and about 5 in the heel. with a dalton 48/36 and green yamaha secondary spring a 60deg.

Its currently the best set up ive done so far.

it engages at about 4200 and right away hits 8700 and climbs to 8800 then when im about 110mph it drops to about 8400 and climbs

what causes this?

should I use the red secondary at 80-90 deg or drop my green to 30-50.

Or should i try the grey hc spring and turn my rap up to 70 deg with green spring.

had the same problem tip is to heavy ...remove some from tip and add some if it needed in heel.. keep your green at 60 or 70 or lower for lake racing.. by the way all that great knowledge come from turk thnx to him ....

i had 4.3 in both tip and center and it reved up to 9100rpm and stayed there so i added more weight to the tip, now its a bit lower but then drops off after i figuered less preload would get rid of the early over rev (grey spring). Im happy with the top end just want to get rid of the midrange and low over rev.

What are you aiming for with that setup, 8500?

Anyway, thought I'd PM'd you on this already? Like mod said, move some of that tip weight to the heel (at least 6 or 6.5g in the heel), put the 5g in the tip, leave mid as is and try it again. If it over revs try dropping the secondary 10*, if it under revs try the opposite. At this point I wouldn't go more the 10* either way, as more then likely your primary is the problem.

What is the temp of each clutch like?

You need a steeper helix with a lot more initial angle & slightly shallower finish.

i think you already told him that turk ... thats why he's overraving from a dead start..i guess he's learning like me :-))l.... but i'm sure he will be able to tune them

im aiming for 8500, I just blew $120 on this helix so i wanna make it work as best as i can. I purchased the helix becasue of mrviper's write up.

I try adding more wieght to the center which I assume is what you meen by heel.

clutches are both luke warm

what about the grey spring??

Picture below to clear things up.

Using that helix I think you are going to need more heel weight like I said. I would start at at least 6g, 6.3-6.5 would be better though. Leave the middle alone and drop the tips to 5g. Retest and let me know what it does, but I'm guessing you'll under rev. If it bog off the line you'll need to take some heel weight out (go to 6g), but I don't think you'll have that problem. I think the mid is probably a little on the heavy side, so if it does under rev off the line I'd start by dropping that down.

I would stick with the red spring for now.

You clutched your sled backwards. U get everything close with the primary then fine tune using the secondary. Kinda backwards to buy a helix & tune the primary around that alltho it,s been done.

so i tryed my 51/43 and when i hammer it it revs up to 8500 perfect but at about 90mph it starts to drop down to about 8000-8100 hard to tell.

so may jsut keep the 51/43 for now and take some whieght out of the tip. or I may try a 51/40.
