I run an 04 viper s stock and I have not noticed wear like this. I have 2500 km on my belt, it is slightly narrower then a new belt but no sign of wear on the actual lugs. Almost looks like you have an alignment issue since the wear only appears on one side.

yup something is not normal there. Check alignment, center to center, bushings in the primary sheave and cover, bushing on the helix in the secondary, and for anything abnormal looking in the clutches.

It looks like it is coming from the primary, right on the left side at the bottom. not quite sure my belt should be riding that low. Could this be caused by weight issues in the clutch itself?

The grooves go all the way around it is coming from primary There is a groove on the shaft. I am going to find out more tommorow from dealer
Look closely at the fixed primary sheave...that looks like it's from the split retainer ring, some how the fixed sheave might of backed off the spider & is catching that split ring...can you post close up pics of the primary & secondary...are there any grooves down low on the primary sheaves?

As theblues said looks like the split collar has backed out or something.

I agree with all of you on the split coller issue. the only other thing to check is......If it is like my SX-R's, the is a thin aluminum "plate, bracket" the runs over the top of the speedo cable...it is directly under the the drive belt toward the bottom. Check to see if that plate is bent up and contacting your drive belt. If so this would cause you to hear a clicking sound as the belt cogs hit it.
It's a long shot, and probably not your problem, but just something to look at.

If that is the moveable sheeve then it is the bushing. The split collar is in the stationary sheeve. Time for a rebuild.
