does anyone have any experience with the differences in the top-end of a 1.25 ripsaw vs a 1.25 predator? i know the predator weights slightly more and has a taller effective lug height. wanting performance in loose snow but don't want to loose any top-end.

I have had both and the ripsaw has sligtly better top speed I think it's due to the lugs being ribbed the air can go between the nipples rather then the predator 6 pitsch it's a solid lug.I prefer the predator 6 pitch(it's a different name now). It's more durable and better in soft snow.

that is what i would have guessed. so maybe 2mph tops difference? everything is a trade off. i see the Carve (predator) weights the same as the ripsaw on 121" and 2lbs more on the 136" version.

i would think that if you are running 144+ studs in a track, it would totally negate the effect of the biting edges of the ripsaw. so, then you are basically running a lower height track lug (since there is space between the fingers, it won't scoop snow as well). the ripsaw would be the way to go on trails if you weren't running studs.
