Anybody recommend where to start on converting a 121" Viper to a 136"??
Can I buy a kit? Does the tail extensions come with the kits?? I am in the dark on this, but I want to convert it this summer. Any input on where to purchase this set up would be helpful. Is it hard to convert?? Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Mountain Performance, Hartman, Tracks USA and SLP are the first few that come to mind. I liked the MPI tunnel extension and the Tracks USA rail extensions. If you really are riding im powder, I would reccommend a 2" track and 8 tooth extrovert drivers, and the drivers need to be pressed on the drive axle which is the hardest part as it requires a press.
I have a mpi tunnel extension for sale.
Here's the pics of it on the sled.

Depends on your type of riding, I went (am) going 136 on my Viper. I checked out the rail extensions and talked to a few people, basically for my area (lots of moguls) I decided against rail extensions because you are more likely to bend your rails (Leverage from rear axle pressure to rear shock location is extended). One thing to look at if you go with rail extensions is some dont run the Hyfax all the way back to the rear axle, I know SLP doesnt, TracksUSA's extensions do, I would have bought the TracksUSA ones if I had done the Rail Extension route... but I found a 136" skid and made my own mounting brackets. As far as Tunnel Extensions, most of the ones I was looking at either were guys passing off 144" tunnels for 136" conversions or they only allowed use of late 90's Mountain Max rear heat exchangers, I got a SRX heat exchanger and there is only one company that makes an extension that fits it (i cant remember who at the moment). Since you are going 136 you might want to look into getting a rear heat exchanger also, if you do a fair amount of marginal snow riding you will overheat easier (larger track, more traction, takes more power to turn the track, makes more heat). I plan on some engine mods in the future and got a 136x16x1.25 track also so i figure the added lug and width I was better off with the larger SRX heat exchanger over the MM one. My solution for the tunnel extension was to make my own, sorry I aint any further use there. hmmm... I'm sure there are some other folks that can fill in the gray areas or offer support for some areas that I was unsure of. G'luck on the project.
rich motorsports has there own rail extensions with hyfax the whole way and are just as strong if not stronger then tracksusa and cheaper.

I did mine to a 136x15x1-1/2, and last year converted it to a 144x16x2, with tracks usa ext. before I seen Rich's if doing it today I would buy from Rich (great to buy from)
I also switched to 8 tooth extroverts like Grape said WAY better!

The one thing I want to say, and I didn't read all posts so it may have been said, is that I would do the skid relocation. Without the relocation the approach angle is too steep and hurts powder performance. I did mine with out relocating the skid and wish I would have now.

How do you figure out how far to move your skid back doing it that way? Next spring I might do that (go 136 to 144) if I dont like how it handles or looks... I am pretty disappointed with the looks of mine now that I designed a tunnel extension for it, looks like a stock Viper... yet ya see them newer ski-poos with the 136" skids and they have a 12" shelf on the rear and look all stretched out... oh well, guess thats why ya research before spendin money...

If you get the kit with relocation it comes with a template to drill the holes. Otherwise you could get measurements from someone that has done it to their own sled.

i just used a set of yamaha rails off a venture, but i would recommend using warrior or rage rails as there was some minor modifications to get it to fit. front suspension mount stayed the same and the middle and rear were moved back. rear mount i used mountain max drop brackets. tunnel extension i got from a buddy from a polaris and modified it to fit for length and to fit my viper aux. rear heat exchanger and used mountain viper hoses and covers to clean up the look.
