Ok guys, I would like your input regarding plans for a summer overhaul.

My 2002 SRX has 6000 miles now and has never been refreshed. I love the sled, so replacing the sled is not so obvious yet. It has an Expert X with a 9818 camo (1.25 predator), a wide front end kit, fresh shocks, gears, a roller secondary, and overall in excellent shape.

My choices are:

1) replace pistons and go.
2) replace pistons and trail port.
3) Bender 835 with pipes and carbs.
4) one of the 780 kits out there with stock pipes and carbs.
5) replace sled with new Apex or Nitro.

The sled will run with about anything on the snow, and with the Expert and long travel front end, it will run thru huge trail junk. So, again, I'm not so sure about replacing it.

Thoughts?

KEEP IT AND TRAIL PORT IT!!!!! The money you have into it your really going to take a hit unless you part it. If you keep it and port it youll be more than happy with it.

Keep it leave it alone and buy an apex

Sled

What he said !!! ^^^^^ Run it ! Heck you will be happy with a four stroke but never give up a 02 SRX if you dont have to !!

IMO number 1 plus crank seals and odds and ends tune up's, the SRX is a
all time great machine that is still a force to be recon with, i would NOT
sell it,add to the stable if you want a 4 stroker..

use OEM parts....

I agree completely with Daman. I have an 03 RX-1 and an 00 SRX. As much as I like the RX-1 and the 4 stroke engine, I'll never sell the SRX. I enoythe SRX so much that I just bought a second one!! The SRX is the best sled I have had in 28 years if sledding. Keep it and put a little money in it to put it back into top form.

Keep it! You have an expertx in it and it's still reliable. Maybe freshen it up and buy something else. If your like me its hard to give up something that treated you well and that you worked on so hard.
