Has anyone had an '00-'02 SRX trail ported and did a before & after test by racing another sled or using timing lights? I'm curious as to the real performance gain, if any.

What about reliability vs a stock motor? :winterrul

Thanks in advance for any replies-TY rules!

Heres my comparo with 2 SRX's I own.

98 Engine-01 Electricial SRX Aggressive Trail Port(Case/Cylinders), 136" 1in Predator, ExpertX , Long travel front end, 8dn-20 clutching overeving 200rpm's.

01 SRX all stock besides W/W/W clutch setup which is dead on

In 2000 ft I was seeing no more than 100mph on the dreamometer of my stock 01. The ported SRX in the same distance, same day so same conditions I was seeing any where from 115-120mph on the dreamometer. So not being a racer just a typical trail rider running the lake theres a diff gain with porting esp. when you look at that I was running a long travel/long track vs a short travel/short track.

YOU WILL SEE A GAIN. JUST DID MY 2000 SRX, GREAT MID RANGE AND UPPER END PERFOMANCE. I DID CHASE RUB THROUGH PROBLEM WHICH HURT SOME TESTING TIME. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I noticed a huge difference in acceleration when I got mine back together, Last year ran 113 without the porting, this year with the porting I had to correct for the over rev and saw 118.... and these numbers were on radar not dreamometer. Don did mine and I can say I am very very happy lol.

Only difference I could actually feel is at a drag race. I took 2nd in the 900 class

1st in 700/800. that was on the big MTN SRX I had with a ported 02 motor

that was in improved classes ?

They run stuff differnet out in washignton.
Tom told me stock means stock clutching too.You can't even run an aftermarket helix.

NOO.. That was stock. In 2005 I just couldnt compete with the improved stock with the newer lighter chassis which even so the 121 SRX got beat out by the F-7 at haydays so no difference here. Well yes so I cheated but I didnt feel a darn bit of guilt and still dont. That MTN SRX with a 144 X 2.25 was a BIG PIG compared to the light weight MTN cat and polaris chassis.

Yes pro116 is correct about that race. STOCK MEANS STOCK. so when they inspect your sled, you better have stock clutches IE helix secondary. I was just fortunate to have a friend tell me about a RX-1 helix that comes stock as a 51/43 and LOOKS like a stock yamaha helix.

President of the WSSRA told us if we are going to cheat, atleast do agood job of it. I never saw a SRX out there my entire time that I had to run against so if they made me pop my motor open at that race I really wasnt scared.

I did try the 700 IMP class. I actually did very well in it. I made it to the 2nd day. I beat out some pretty fast sleds. When I started getting to the ones that were all stripped down or carbon fiber tunnels, and yes, people get stupid crazy out there with the light weight stuff, I started falling out of the race only getting beat by a little bit as I finally lost my 2 races that kicked me out the 700 IMP. Just couldnt hang with a lightened up sled. I placed 4th in the 700 IMP but no prize or money for 4th. I was still happy.

This is for sure a different breed of race. All the guys on F-7s had to run in the mod 700 class. The club that puts on the event doesnt want to see every F-7 go home with a trophy and knows they clean up the 700 and up stock and Improved classes. Actually I think it was called the sno-pro class they could only race in. I think there was a couple F-7s there that I could have beat but not sure where I would have placed in that class. Still kicking me in the butt for not attempting to try. Also wish I would have gone in the 1000 stock class

If I get a chance to go back out there again.. I would LOVE to see what that MTN Apex with a 162 and a 1 inch lug track will do. I have that sled set up now for trail riding and I almost got 120 out of that monster on the dream meter. It really hauls. I really dont miss my MTN SRX over that MTN Apex. Its just a phenominal sled. I think pro116 really misses that sled now after he drove it when I cluthed and geared it like an ATTAK
