What are the differences in these ignition systems? I know the plugs are different but have not done any work with these, so I don't know how many other differences there are.. Any input would be appreciated as I do not have the manuals..

I think all the electrical except for wiring to handwarmer controls is the same.

DAN NONE AS FARR AS PERFORMANCE. 2001 SRX HAD SEPRATE HAND / THUMB WARMERS. I ALSO WAS TOLD WHAT YOUR ASKING. BUT FOUND NO GAINS. I WILL TELL YA VIPER CDI THE ONE TO CHECK INTO. BUT YA NEED DEFFERNT HARNESS. 3:16 (yammie tony)
Tony is the 2000 system not d\c and the 01-02 system not a\c???
the ign systems from 2000-02 are all 300watt dc current, its the 98-99 that are 175 watt ac current.
theres no differance in the 2000-01 other then the seperate warmer controls, same timing curve. differnt plugs as usual, all of the cdi box,2000,2001, (2002 has a couple more wires for the dcs) have differnt plugs, the 2001 will swap out with a viper cdi if you want more timing.

DON, VIPER CDI WILL WORK, BUT DO YA NEED VIPER PLUG ON 2000 ? !! 3:16 (yammie tony)
youd need to go to a 2001 wire harness to use viper cdi on a 2000 srx, this would only be for drag racing, too much timing for a trail sled at 8500rpm.
the only trail riding Tony does is getting his sled up to the starting line!!!LOL!
