I have a 2003 viper. It doesn't have electric start. Anyway's this sled sometimes is really hard to start. A few weeks ago I let it sit for 25 minutes and came back out to start it and it took like 30 pulls before it would fire. I also noticed it doesn't want to idle below 2500rpm sometimes and will stall out if you take your thumb off the gas. Next day had no issue's with idling or starting at all. Let the sled sit for another week and it took another 30 pulls before it would fire and wouldn't idle unless you kept the rpm's up. The sled has 8200 miles on it. I know the carbs are clean and power valves are good and clean the fuel is good. Otherwise the sled runs great and never fouls plugs. Could this be a stator issue?

Needle and seats in good shape? Float levels set correctly?

Thanks for the idea's
I will have to check the compression. Floats seem to be fine will look at the needle and seats when I get a chance. Maybe it is time for a rebuild, since the snow is gone.

If you are letting it sit for 2 weeks and you pull the cord and it is hard to start , seems to me like the float or something is flooding the cases it dont take much sometimes easy to over look even by a pro . and also if it stalls below 2500 indicates an overflow of fuel . if not than i would look into the ignition system . low spark .at low rppms and as you increase the rpms the mag makes a bit more spark maskerading the problem . May want to take a reading of the output at this point .

You may also want to consider the possibility of it being a leaking crank seal, (usually mag side). Seals can be thrown in with out even touching the top end.
