Viper rear skid in an SRX - is it worth it?

I have an 02 SRX that I absolutely love, but at a few months short of 50, my lower back isn't loving me after a long day on the sled. Fortunately the trails are usually well groomed where I ride, but on a busy day when the trails turn to washboard, my back is killing me by day's end.

I'd hate to part with my SRX, and I know that many SRX owners have installed Viper rear skid frames in their sleds. So for those of you who have done so, is it worth it? Does it notably improve the ride? How does it affect performance, both on the lake, and in the corners? Would I need to make any front suspension changes (my sled has Ohlin clickers)?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

upgrade your suspension

If you change to a Viper skid or change out the shocks and limiter straps you will enjoy the improved ride. The viper skid is your suspension with long travel shocks and different limiter straps. I've done several of my SRX's that I've owned and the improved ride is nice and you won't notice any loss of speed.
Pioneer has a package to widen the front ski's to help with cornering because of the slightly higher riding stance.

Likely have to mail you a disc as we both have busy schedules???

you actually can save some time and money by just getting the viper shocks and bolting them in your skid.

I put viper shocks in a 02 SRX I long tracked. Worked pretty good.

I did install viper limiter straps and viper transfer rods as well.

I bit the bullet and bought a used Viper skid frame for $400 with shipping. Came from an 03 with only 1800 miles - looks like new. Figured that by the time I bought shocks, transfer rods, new straps, plus new bearings and wheels for my SRX skid with 5000 miles, it would be at least a much invested, plus this gives me spare parts.

Thanks for the input!

Yea it makes a big difference. I have long traveled several srx's as well, all with OEM parts from vipers and sxr's.
