after finally getting the engine out and
having two stupid little phillips screws that hold the ignition wire away from the mag strip out and need to extract them

I am finally ready to split the case

but... I cannot split the case. tried screw driver and snapped that on the couple slits casted into the case, and a round punch just opened up the slots

what's the trick. I need to get this engine rebuilt so I can move on to summer things and work on the boat !!!!!

do you have all brackets removed from the engine? water pump cover? stator removed? if its not coming apart under force of prying with a screwdriver than there is something else still holding it on.

will do 800
if I don't find what i am missing, I will box it up and leave this to an expert ;)!
you

I just don't like to be defeated :whine:

i don't have a puller for the stator, and that is not off yet
not sure if there is something behind that. I do have the service manual I have been referencing

i removed one of the two screws for the wire retention flange by the stator but see it continues behind the stator, the second one i cannot drill the easyout strait as the stator is in the way
wondering if there is a third screw.

either way . it is coming your way on monday
maybe i send it out that way and you can confirm i didn't forget a gasket to order ( like is there a case gasket for example :)

pto side is loose and mag side just doesn't want to let go

thanks

Rambo, It won't come apart without getting the stator off, if you don't have a puller and such, and have not done this before, just box the whole thing up and send it that way, I can get the screwed up screw out and replace it. I'll send it back in one piece.

awesome
i made a shipping box yesterday and it is loaded in with all the case bolts
in a bag inside.

watch for a few jug bolt sleeves that they don't fall out. I have the other ones that don't show up to you on the case as they came off with the jugs.
