Well, this past weekend I cleaned and adjusted my powervalves thanks to Totallyamaha.com. I would never had attempted this had it not been for this site and the geat posts by many of the members.

I took part of two days to do them, but I took my time. I bought the sled used with 800kms, and have only taken these out at just shy of 4000kms. I doubt they were done by the last owner.
Needless to say, they were VERY hard to get out of the sled. The last one required a finishing nail through the PV hole and some WD-40.

Here are some pics.

I know, I haven't seen many pics on here with valves as dirty. I was lucky not to have a single pull-through. It was actually quite an easy job, and I will do it once a year from now on.
I will try to tackle the carbs next thanks to this site and these members.

I was really surprised to see no pull-throughs. Those valves were incredibly hard to get out. I must be lucky!
I've been using only Amsoil Interceptor now.... I used a few bottles of Amsoil HP injector oil in the beginning of the year, but I've since used a full 4 liters of the Interceptor. It's all I will use from now on.
Can't wait to see how she'll pull at the Radar runs now! I was beating many of the bigger sleds with valves like these... imagine now!

Any part of the process that requires any caution or helpful suggestion? I too will be attempting this for the first time over this summer but I am a little nervous about f'n it up.

A little info

It's not that difficult to do...E.R or none E.R. easy...just don't jump the electrical plug (servo feed) with a spare battery like some here have done=burnt servos or zapped CDI boxes...unless you have the Yamie one & instructions...Either sled E.R. (cycle key) or none E.R. (turn idle down to 900rpm) will do the job. here's a link to some good instructions & photos...if you run into a bind, just ask...cheers

Oil cable gap

Have you checked your oiler cable gap and to be sure the cable is completely seated at the adjustment area? Looks awful oily to me. I also run Amsoil and I have my cable adjusted to 22mm. May be worth checking now that you are becoming more confident.

I will check that. I have never adjusted those, and I bet it hasn't been done since it came from the factory. The sled is easy on the oil... doesn't burn through much at all. I did warm up the sled before I took the valves out. That might be why they look wet and really oily.
Most of it was hard carbon buildup.
