need to know what the stock jetting and adjustments are? also does any one know what,if any, the jetting changes/adjustments would be for a dyno port exhasut?
just for general info on the sled. i just bought this sled w/ 694 miles and im guessing hasnt been run in 5 yrs. it has dyno port exhaust, v force reeds, a maxx helix, and is running br9es plugs. it has 140 psi across the board i was told. thanks for any and all info.

iwould getthe updat done on the crank.not sure if yamaha is still doing it but the 98's had a recall on them. i personally have never seen 140 psi on any srx.not saying it dont but i would check with a good gauge.congrats on a rare find.the jetting should be fine with the can but srx's actually produced more hp with the stock can.clutch & gear that sled for what you'll use it for & you should fall in love with it.
ya thanks. a buddy of mine is checking for me to see if it has had the update done or not on the crank(my luck most likely not) and i dont have the stock parts for it so im stuck w/ what i have. right now it wont even start or run because of the bad gas and "green carbs". i bought a 97' sx when they first came out and loved that so this ought to be great. just wondering on a side note, how would this sled compare to a 06' apex er?

itwont compare in any aspect.dont get me wrong iloved my srx it was a 2000 but they were all great but it wont compare to any new fourstroke.imho

BULLY , WHY YA THINK THE 4 STROKES ARE BETTER THAN ALL THE SRX,s ?!!! WHAT 4 STROKE IS YOUR EXAMPLE. APPEX ? SHURE CAN,T TELL ME A RX-1 WAS BETTER THAN THE SRX. 3:16 (yammie tony)

i was talking about the apex because thats what he was comparing it to.but for ride quality, electric start, reverse, modern technology with digital everything..for example thumb, hand controls, etc.not nessasarly power wise but i would say anything over a 06 four stroke excluding the phazer would be a better choice than a srx.like i said though iloved everything about my srx.styling, power bullet prof.im just saying iwent froman 2000 srx to a 06 nytro & loved differnt quailtys from both.but would leantowards the nytro.just my thought.& thought iwould share it.
well i had a 06' apex and loved it in everyway. i was thinking more of the power. im thinking also that this srx would handle better as the apex pulled the skis to much in corners. granted i will miss the ele, reverse for sure. power was un beleavable.

I am pretty sure your supposed to be using Br9ECS plugs. Not sure if the older srx's had it different but my 01 calls for it, i guess bad things can happen if you do use em, they act as a heat radiator and cools the top of the motor or something like that.
actually they call for the 10's according to the sticker on the clutch cover. the 10 would be a cooler plug for sure the lower the number the hotter the plug.
ok after some more scary rearch this is what ive found.
1st it has a roller secondary helix no#CR27 w/ a black spring
2nd is the primary w/ 8dn00 weightes w/ 2 steel rivets and a black spring w/ 2 red marks w/ looks like purple in the middle of them.
3rd did my own compression test and all 3 were at 150 psi +- 5psi
4th there are scribe marks of, S 88 on the lower and upper sides of the crank cases ??
the vforce reeds have "moto tassinari" typed on the inside.
my question is for you srx guys is how much much of this is stock and do you know what the mods are. my buddy told me to do a squish test from the head to piston and it came out to be .08 and was wondering if the heads were shaved. thanks from a guy trying to figure where to start.

can you take some pics of the parts....like the roller secondary and reeds. it would be easier for us to tell you what you have. you might have the v-force 2's....judging by the sleds age. the roller secondary definetly ain't stock. stock they had a button secondary, running a straight 47 helix and red spring @ 60 deg. stock primary spring was a g-g-g (green all 3 stripes)spring, 8dn-00 weights w/17.2 outer rivet and 13.3 inner. stock jetting is 146.3 mains on pto/center cylinders and 148.8 mains on mag, 42.5 pilots, 1-1/8 turns out on fuel screws. stock jetting is fine for the reeds and dynoport silencer that you are running. i would run br9ecs plugs. .08" for the squish, sounds right around stock i think. someone will hopefully correct me if i'm wrong. you should clean the power valves right away and get the crank welded if not already.
ok ill give it a try. forgot to mention as well the air box has been cutted and cut a little as well.
hope these help thanks again.

wooooo, stock jetting won't be ok. i thought you just had a dynoport silencer and not the full blown pipes. not to mention the slots cut in airbox. the slots alone will require like 2-3 sizes fatter on the mains and i don't know what dynoport says for the pipes. those are definetly v-force 2's. the primary spring looks like a yamaha spring, except maxx perf just painted red spray paint over yamaha's paint stripes, so you can't tell which yamaha spring it is that's used, so you have to buy "their special" spring. how are the reed petals. past experience has shown me that v-force's like to chip at the ends.

are you sure it's not jetted for the pipes already?i to thought you had just the stingers.not the pipes.get ahold of rich daly at dyno port or through bender(mike might know as well).i would just make sure the crank has been done & leave it.besides clean the carbs & power valves.i also would gear it if it hasnt been done.i just think srx was geared to high for the trails.by the way mopar arent those the 1st gen v-forces?

also there are plenty of guys on here to get your clutching where you will want it.they will chime in im sure.
it already has 145 piolets and 157.5 mains so i know its been jetted some. im going to find out how much was done to this engine before i go any further. i did find out that yamaha has no record of the crank being done.
