I am in the process of Trying to figure out what i want to do for this winter, i want to get my suspension figured out, am i better off going with pioneer and having them revalve my shocks for my weight and riding style, or should i go all out with an M-10? Obviously one costs more then the other, but i have some time to think about what i wanna do, If i get the M-10 do i have to long travel the front suspension as well? or if i get my shocks long traveled from pioneer they say its not required to get the front long travelled with their kit.

I was reading about that Airwave suspension which comes on the m10 skid, its from teamfast, Is that something to look at?

Thanks.

Joe

One other choice to consider would be to install a Yamaha monoshock skid into your SRX. I installed a mono skid in a '02 SRX a few years back with very good results. There's been a few other TY members that I know of who have installed a mono skid in their SRX and Vipers and have been pretty happy with the increased travel.

There's quite a few guys on the 4-stroke side that installed the new ZX-2 skids in their 4-stroke sleds last year, so there's probably going to be some mono skids available from their sleds. I've heard nothing but good things about the ZX-2 skid from guys that have installed one, so that's another option.

Your best results if you do decide to install a longer travel suspension in the rear would be to also do something to the front suspension to increase your travel. I'm not sure if FAST still sells them or not, but they had a BLT front suspension kit available for the SRX that increased the ski stance and increased the suspension travel too.

The Pioneer option you mentioned is a good one if you want to keep your stock skid and the cost down. It depends on how long you want to keep your SRX and how much money and time you want to put into it. Even though I run a 4-stroke, I still can't let go of the SRX, and get a thrill every time I ride it.

Have you considered the possibility of stretching it to a 136" or 144"? With the longer travel, a longer track can really make the SRX into a nice riding trail sled for high mile days, and it really helps with hook up. I had a 136" mono set up in my SRX last year, and am currently stretching it out to a 146" this year for some additional off trail capability.

Here's a link to some info on my 136" set up: http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36869&highlight=boomer

Another thing to note is the lack of weight transfer on the M-10. You can cut the blocks and get some more out of it, but I was still not happy. I took out the M-10 and put in a ZX2 and absolutely love it. Weight transfer is excellent and ride is great. I do have different mounts and viper shocks up front which I think is a must for either of these skids. Viper shocks in the rear revalved by pioneer and flipping the mounts in the front is a nice cheap option that is a great improvement. A lot of it depends on budget and what you are looking to get out of your skid. I initially did the viper shocks in the rear but wanted something that rode a little better yet.

ZX2 gets my vote also - ran one last year for over 1500 miles and absolutely loved it - awesome ride, awesome transfer, and zero top end loss!!

I went the cheep way and put an 05 edge suspension in my 01 and just love it. Got the edge suspension for $250 and sold the old one for $175. I also flipped the front brackets to raise the front. Just do a search of my name to see some pics of the work. Not hard to swap out at all.

Viper shocks have a longer body than the srx. Basically the long travel conversions put a long shaft in a short body. The difference is about 1.5 inches if memory serves me right. Maxdlx

For what it's worth I ran a ZX2 in my rx1 last year and liked it after I sorted it out. I ended up buying the softer springs and still want revalve the shocks to slow down the rebound. The skid is very tough, no rust to worry about or paint to chip. I am looking for a srx to dump my mono in for a 2nd sled

m10 gets my vote, transfer is not an issue when set up correctly, they lose some speed but most of it is in the rear wheels that can be taken care of. they are very durable
i have heard good things about experts, aluminum ones, not the zx.

a good tight pro action with long travel and good valving will ride very good.

my proaction rides really good not as good as the mono on the nytro but still good pioneer worked on the shocks and it's also long traveled.

Edge here its awesome, completely different sled, also with the *** end up higher it actually corners just as good, once i got the kinks out with initial inside ski lift, but combined with C&A ADX's on the front its like a sled on rails

When I did the M-10 I also added the offset axle and 8in rear wheels to get back the speed lost. I never ran it stock so I can't say how much slower it would have been, but I didn't have any top end issues with it this way. I also set it up exactly as the manual said for my weight. Originally I was very unhappy with the weight transfer. I then cut the blocks and it was a lot better, but still not what I was looking for.

The ZX2 and M-10 are fairly similiar in ride quality. I'd say the M-10 was a little plusher and the ZX2 is a little firmer. As for the "Fun Factor", the ZX2 wins hands down for me. The way the suspension reacts to the throttle is much different than the M-10. One downfall is in the pro-action chassis you really only have two settings that will work for weight transfer. The one with the lower weight transfer still hooks up very well, but the ride suffers a little over the small bumps. With max weight transfer it is a great improvement for the studder bumps and also hooks up extreemly well. You just have to want to "ride" it more because of the ski lift. That being said, it is much more predictable that my pro-action was. I find it a blast to ride now. I also love looking at the suspension this year and knowing I have nothing that needs to be done to it.

if you could point me in the direction where i can get an M10 for the srx that would be cool....... they aren't cheap though. does the M-10 drop right in to stock mounting brackets?

i think i just saw a m10 on ebay for sale w/ a polaris kit. can buy a yam. mounting kit i think.

Yes and no. You'd get the 11.5" travel, but it would be the factory valving. If you send them out they will valve them to your weight, riding style rather than the one size fits someone factory job. You could send the long travel shocks out for a revalve and maybe save a few bucks rather than having the new rods and such put in your short travel shocks.

For the most part yes. Some guys say you need the longer limiter straps, but I was able to just adjust mine and it worked fine. For the transfer rods you have to either swap to a set from a 11.5" skid or make some extenders for the bottom of the rods so they extend far enough. i seem to remember them being 10mm long. I used a gas nipple and a grinder/sawzall to make mine. Still going strong on my brother-in-laws sled.

For an 01 you will need the longer limiters along with adding a 10mm spacer to the rods as mentioned in the previous post. Lastly you will need different transfer rod spacers. I can't remember the P/N of those off hand. You might find them in a search, or someone else may chime in.
