Today I removed most of the studs off my old SRX stock track to get the Woody backing plates.Got 39 aluminum double and 39 aluminum single backers off. There are still 9 of each I can not remove and they are history.I will order 9 of each so I can install 144 studs. Now my question to you guys that run studs and mostly on the SRX's.I have a Predator 1" 6 pitch track.I probably will need 1.075 studs.Which are the best ones to go with? What kind of studs are recommended that I use on the SRX.Is 1.075 " studs the right length to use with the 1" track? Guess I'll have to run the track tight so not to get the ballooning effect. When I bought the sled used,it had the stock track with 144 studs and I had some of the fins on the front heat exchanger and the tunnel area chewed up a bit.I guess the guy had the track to loose.I am a little leary of going with studs because of that. How tight must that track then be with 144 studs? Answers to the above questions would be vey helpfull and appreciated for sure. Thanks guys.

i always ran 192 1'' mega bites down the center with good luck.i personally woundnt go any bigger than 1'' in a srx with out changing the drivers.

i would think w/ those bigger studs your going to be pretty close to the heat exchanger so i would keep the track close to the proper yamaha specs even tho its tooo tight imo.

I ran 1.187 studs in a sx with alot of room left, ran them in my viper too. Are you running all 144 down the center or inside and out both? Maxdlx

maxdlx.I will be running all 144 down the center. What is the actual length of a 1.075 stud?

thanks alot there tomseal. It is getting to that time when guys are starting to look at their sleds and do some work on them.I still have to change the jackshaft on my SRX,slight wobble somewhere in it.

Could it be just a bad bearing? I pull the grease seal every few rides and pack some fresh Lithium grease in it.

Im looking for the website you got your windy from. I have the blue cobra shield that you can see through and like the one you have better.

Preditor is alot better track than the origanal for not streching and the rubber is higher above the track clips wear it rubs on the protectors. So going that size will not be a problem.

Good to hear guys.I got that windy thru Royal Distributing in Ontario,Canada.
But bluewho, what are the best studs...megabites,signature series SS,etc.I will be ordering thru Royal.

If I was buying, I would go with the Megabites. I have no personal experience, but from the research I have done on this and other boards, they are the most popular right now. I have always used Fast-Trac in the past with excellent results.

i have had stud boy gold diggers and woodys traction masters in my track at the same time. the woodys seemed to last longer than the stud boys. i stick with the studs with 1" heads

That's all real good info guys on the studs.Major concern is the length of them.My old studs on the original SRX track were about 1 1/16" long.I assume then go with the same length on my 1" Predater Track.;)!

Look at the track to see how many doulble backers it takes to fill the spaces were there is no paddle and 2 sets on the row were it is open.I went with 160 woodys. If you dont run or cross alot of roads than the cheaper ones work fine.

blue...man it sure can become an expensive ordeal to stud the track.$500 easily. That is more then the cost of the track for sure.Well if I cross rodways,I'll be sure not to spin the track hard.Just a crawl across and the studs won't get damagaed or worn as fast.I have to debate the whole thing now that the cost really gets up there.I mean it is a safety feature also.I remember last year on the river when I hit a lot of ice patches. My ski's stayed straight but the back end wrapped around on me at about 80 mph and that scared the Crap out of me.Thought I was going to roll the sled sideways. After a few of those situations,I adjusted my speed and didn't pin it hard on the icy patches, but like I side..it really wakes you up fast knowing you could lose control of your sled.

not sure about stud but don't buy chisel they are awsome on ice but doesnt stay long on trail ... one ride and they are not more really good

mod. don't run studs eh?With HC's it is highly recomended to take advantage
of them since they transfer more HP to your track, otherwise you spin like a mad man.

hey blue do u know if they made blue side belly pan for viper or if they are all black ??
