03 viper vs 03 f7 in drag race ?

I agree with YammieGod, F7's are fast but most are F8s OR F9s. I don't think I have ever raced one that was truly stock. Example... addition of Y-pipe or boost controller and module. It would be nice to see an SRX,Viper and an F7 set up exactly the same (no cheating)., to see who would win 600ft., 1000ft., 2000ft., and finally all out across the lake.

AMEN !!!!!! 3:16 (yammie tony)

No way

I am sorry but when both are set up the same way. Stock for stock....do all the clutch work you want.....but the Yami will loose. It is heavier and has less power than the F-7.

Here is a Video of srxmagic's sled kicking the crap out of a few sleds including an F7. I Bought a Viper Setup buy Flybybo and Mark Miceri two years ago. It was ported,SLP pipes, and Mega Power heads. it made 162Hp hp on a DynoMite Dyno. There wasn't a F7 on Anchor bay that could beat me. Unless I went over to the Permit track where the Pro Stock or Really well setup Improver's ran. I would say that sled would run 6.2 to 6.3 in 660.

I sold that sled and bought Allen Ulmers Improver and basically turned it into a Pro Stocker. Mr Viper has the motor right now and If everything goes well i hope to have it running Consistently in the 5.7 to the 5.8 range in 660. If it does there isn't and F7 or and F9 for that matter that will run with it. I have a friend with a F9 Pro Stock sled that runs 5.8's to 5.9's. Glenn Hall did that sled. If I meet my goal I'll be beating that sled this year!!!

A piped viper is right around 150hp depending upon the pipe brand used, now go inside and do a little tune up on the cylinders, put some real heads in it and then minor other little things and they run like a scalded dog for a little 700. The video jtssrx has posted is just one of those engines. The biggest thing is the owner srxmagic is the same size as the jolly green giant!!

The piped viper can be made to be brutal and will certainly spank a f7 and many more way larger cc sleds, its all about the set up!!!!

We like to Radar Run 2000' on ice up here in the North. Check out our progress on a stock motored SRX 700. Still more left in her. You tube ( Blue Crew Racing ).

Why is it when ever a comparison is done on any sled they always knock Yamaha for being too heavy and under powered ?? Maybe they're built heavier to handle all the brute power without falling apart. Spend the time to properly tune your sled and you will find plenty of hidden power. Especially pay close attention to suspension tuning. :homework:

I think madmatt was referring to a stock single piped viper, he might have overlooked the original post that was about a triple piped viper. As far as the weight goes, hes right, the f7 is alot lighter, lighter chassis is free power.
You can lighten up a sled, either by removing items that are not needed for racing. Also, swapping on aftermarket aluminum/etc parts but its quite costly per pound lost using fancy parts, its easier and cheaper to go on a diet and lose 25lbs yourself!

Thanks Don

Yes, the thread I was posting a response to was about comparing sleds that were set up similarly.....so to me that means stock for stock.....or if you pipe and clutch the viper then you pipe and clutch the F7. If you port, cut the head, and clutch the viper, then you do the same to the F-7. My point is that if you are allowed to do the same amount of work to both sleds and you get them dialed in for whatever work has been done to BOTH SLEDS then the Viper will loose every friggin time. Sorry!

there seems to be a lot of threads on here about those f7s being superfast.im guessing it must be one of the fastest sleds ever.dont you guys a new doo 800 or a polaris triple 800 would have been about the same?also does anyone know if the f7 was really a 700 or maybe one of engines thats like a 780 and they call it a 700?

All else being equal, a triple will always make more power than a twin. That is because the smaller cylinders have higher volumetric efficiency, the air/fuel mixture does not have to travel as far to fill the cylinders. So, even if a twin can make the same HP on a dyno, the triple will make more HP over the usable rpm range, and this is enough to make up for a sizeable weight disadvantage. I will put my money on the triple piped Viper over the F7 any day.

i dunno...there a very hard sled to beat in a drag race.a well setup F7 will out run alot of bigger sleds.

I have a BB viper with pipes and have run some fast f-7's... In a short run you better have everything set up well to run with the f cat.. Not saying you can't beat one but you better have your sh-t together if you run into one that is set up for drags..

I agree...

The F-7 is still lighter than a viper.
