Could you guys help me out with studding my sons 03 viper ER. I am installing a rear heat exchange and I would like to also stud it. It is a stock sled with stock suspension and I am not sure what to get. I would like to put some studs on that are not going to damage the rear or front exchanges. We do mostly groomed trails with packed powder. Should I go with 96 or 144 pull threw or T-nut. Thanks for any info you guys can give me.

144 studs, 1.075 long, carbide pull through type work good with stock track.

Thanks Herky would I need backer plates with pull threw or is the locking nut ok?

I thought the 2003 viper came with the rear heat exchanger from the factory? or was it only in 2004? Where would you buy the exchanger protectors and how hard are they to install?

Thanks

Yes you need backing plates. With the conditions you ride in I would go with 96 down the middle in a V pattern.

I'm running 96 up the middle with a 1 inch hacksaw track. No complaints.

So 96 down the middle, pull threws, backer plates, 1.075, front and rear exchange protectors. Where can I pick up the protectors and do you need to remove the track to put in the front protectors? Does it matter what type of backers? Thanks again for all the help.

I have a 03 stock Viper and I added 144 down the middle, woody Gold Diggers. 1.075 with alum double and single backers. I ride mostly groomed trails too. I used the Woody 144 double/single template and it really grips the trail and stops great.

The first year I did not have a heat exchanger when I studded. The second year I added a heat exchanger on with the protectors. Call Rich from Richmotorsports he hook you up.

I've got 96 in the V pattern. Incredible performance. I ride nice trails as well, and this set up will still get you up and goin in a radar run. IMO you don't need more than 96. It costs more, weighs more, and slows ya down a bit! ;) No need to stud the outside of the track either.
Here's the stud pattern on my 03 Viper.

Yes thanks alot Viper. I am going to purchase the studs this week and hope to put in the rear heat and studs next week. Thanks for all the help. Sorry I did not get back to as I am working in Pa. and live in Ma. Its a long ride home every weekend.

I used a combo of the square single and doubles with Woody Megabits with the flat part of the stud facing front. The stud will be square to the track and backer. Make sure you have a extra hand to help hold the allen wrench and air impact for the nuts.
