ok guys what is the stock compression suppose to be on say a 98' srx and an 02' srx 700?

my 02 i just bought with 289 miles on it was 120 psi across the board that was 3 good pulls and all plugs, exhaust and carbs removed.

ok now tell him what mine was lol. no were trying to figure why mine is 150 to 155 psi across the board w/ about 670 miles.

Hold the throttle wide open andpull 5-6 times. Should be 125lbs. or better

If you can get a leak down tester try that. I picked my 02 SRX up with 6400 miles. it would blow 120-125 all day long but it would not hold that compression for very long because the rings were shot. Different brand compression testers will give you a different reading.

he has 150psi to 155psi compression in his 98 though ,that is pretty high isnt it? after checking that i suggested squish test and it read .080 pretty strange to have that much compression and so much clearance(squish) dont you think? i know we are missing something! my 02 is 120psi even across the board with the same tester.

I didnt see that both of the sleds have low mileage.

It doesnt even make sense because the 00-02 heads are 6cc's tighter than the 98-99 heads

i would say you got your hands on a rocket ship. at least the compression is equal across the board. you should also check it while it is warm.

well the engine was cold(air temp of around 80 degrees) and across the board its the same compression like he mentioned. now i figured the gage might be off until we did his @ 120 so i know its not off that much. but the squish test has us wondering how the heads can be shaved if it has .80??? the questions still goes on lol.

SO YOU HAVE 150 / 155 COMPRESSION WITH A .80 SQUISH ? YOUR GAUAGE HAVE SHORT HOSE OR LONG. ANOTHER QUESTION, WHATS IN THIS MOTOR FOR PISTONS ? WIESCO ? 3:16 (yammie tony)

heads could have been shaved down like .030"-.060" or even more, and then you just recut the squish to get the proper squish clearance. .080" is too much, and i don't know why (if your heads were cut and re-squished) that the builder didn't tighten up the squish to like .055"-.060"? so right now, you have the stock squish clearance, but the dome (hemisphere) of the head, has a smaller volume then it did when stock....that's why comp is soo much higher now.

ok guys heres some more info. after bringing my sled down to ramblns house and comparing numbers to his 02' this is what we found. the squish is the same on both sleds.(this is using solder into the cyclinder agaist the wals then rotate piston up) they were the same on all cylinders on both sleds. using same tester(w/ a long hose) on both sleds on all cyclinders his was 130 psi +-, w/out the carbs on, and mine w/ the wot is 150+- psi on all 3. now looking at the heads and meassuring the thickness(just a genernic sliding calipers) my thickness is less then his. now by using the rod on the caliper and inserting it into the spark plug hole and rest the end of the cailiper on the seat of the plug hole and piston to tdc my meassures .06 less then did his 02'. so im guessing the head is been shaved for sure.

it has the long hose w/ stock pistons.

that's what i figured/said.....someone has reworked the head over:) you probably have a rocket on your hands.

yammigod, what are you talking about?

like jr-amsoil and mopar1 said, got a healthy 1 should be a screamer fo sho! triple chromed dynaport pipes with v-force reeds and a maxx roller secondary. anyone have any info on these pipes? hp, jetting, rpm's these turn at?
