I was wondering if anyone can tell me what other model of yamaha tracks would be compatible with my 1997 s.x. 700. It is track time and i would appreciate any advice as to what would best work on this machine other than Stock. Thanks.

any 121 by 1.25 or less lug height track would work. What kind of ridding do you do? maxdlx
I strictly do most trail riding. I find my sx really good on hard pack and pulls like a monster but as soon as i get into some very light fluff, it feels like i loose all forward motion. The track just spins. My buddy has a Purple v-max 700 with reverse and electric start and he can keep up with me when i get into the powder. On hard pack i kill him. Any advice?

i would vote for the ripsaw myself. it sticks really well on trail and as long as you are not too aggressive on take off performs well in powder. if you are going to stud it then people will reccomend the six pitch (i do not remeber the campolast#) as it is a better off trail track. ultemately though tracks are like tires on a truck, not everyone likes the same thing. for the type of riding i do and un-studded ripsaw works great.

I think you can run a 1.5 if you are not studding.

Studding = 9830
Non-Studded = Cobra
That is what I would go with right now. I currently run the hacksaw studded and think the 9830 is a little better. The cobra is supposed to be about as good as it gets for overall performance if you don't plan to stud.

I vote for the cobra unstudded and the 1" 6 pitch preditor studded,
maim,
my SRX you rode has a rip saw... did you like it?

well i know it planted its power well tom. i have had a ripsaw on my last 2 sleds (sxr and war) and i love how it grabs in the twistys. so i would have to say yes i liked it.
Yep, it grabs nice.. I got a cure for the DCS this year. Ill have the SRX on the rides this year. what rides you plan on maiking? Dont let me sleep in again... LOL
Would you be interested in my Ice Ripper 1.25"?
I have a ice ripper on my sled.. i like it i seemed like it went through powder just fine.. on hard pack snow it goes even faster then a plain stock track.. 1.25 in ..

trust me that will never happen again lol. might make the january ride or do the snow train one. i might have to see if i can afford both. bought a new bike so funds are a little tighter this year.
Gentlemen, All your feedback is awesome and extremely helpful and appreciated. I am a firm believer in studs. I have 144 woody's in my old track now. Too many hills not made due to ice. Could be driver....maybe conditions. lol. I choose to go with conditions. So it is down to the Hacksaw 9830 studded or the Prediter 1 inch 6 pitch with studs. What is the best choice between the two. My old SX still will lift the skis 3 inches from a dead stop, carry it to 70 mph and pulls like a team of horses. All with big thanks to Turk for helping me dial in a heel klicker clutch kit. It took a lot of changes, but she rocks again. I do not want to loose that feeling. Cheers.

I run the 6 pitch on every sled I own. Has never let me down, and there wear awesome. Maxdlx

I currently run the hacksaw and previously ran the 9830. Personally I would go back to the 9830. On hard pack I'd say they are =. On looser trails I am not happy with the hacksaw. It takes it a bit to bite where the 9830 hooks much sooner. Last season my dad had the 9830 on his and the hacksaw on mine so we were able to switch sleds for a good comparison in the same conditions. I don't think you will find anyone on this board not happy with the 9830.

I have a Kimpex X-cellerator 1-1/4" on my 00 vmax 700 and a 9830 1" on my 98 vmax sx 700 and as soon as I can I will replace my kimpex for a camoplast 1-1/4". The Kimpex did'nt last as long because the quality is not comparable to the Camoplast tracks. I would recommand you like the others guys to go with the 9830. Go take a look at the camoplast website. http://www.camoplast.com/en/tracksystem/replacementtracks_snowmobile_all.php
