no, head mod not needed.
Thanks, I will just go ahead and install the new opti-cool and leave the head alone.
NO head mod with pipes. The mono head retains enough heat as it is.

Head mod may be required. The Viper has high compression on two cylinders 13.5 to one. Compression this high requires good fuel. If you can always run premium you might be ok. When you have the head moddified they will reduce camber size to 12.0 or 12.5 to one. If you trail ride and must buy trail gas at places your not sure about this could be trouble. You know your in trouble when there is one tank behind the bar and no other fuel options.

tom, did you mean to say that the mono head rids the engine of enough heat? the mono head does retain heat, but using the supercool head gasket and proper jetting, i've never had problems with overheating. also, have the rear heat exchanger. the head mod that like bender performs and such, is just equaling out the compression on all the domes....i believe.

I have the bender pipes, opticool gasket, and rear heat exchanger. No problems here.
Yes mopar, Thats exactly what Imeant. The mono head retains alot of heat especially on the mag side. Alot of people junk their mono heads for aftermarket or better yet... they get their cylinders grooved out to bolt on some SRX heads which allow better cooling and provide an equal compression.
After installing Bender pipes and jetting up on my 04 Viper the DCS light would come on. After the head mod no more DCS with the same jetting. Plugs come out clean and no detonation. I think if you don't do the head mod you're taking a chance. Especially if your sled doesn't have DCS to worn you.

Machine grooves in the cylinders just like SRX cylinders. You would use
SRX O-rings as head gaskets instead of the normal Viper steel gaskets that retain more heat than alum. on alum contact.
