Hey guys,
not overly familiar with the Yammi SRX's other than hearing alot of good things about reliability. Mine is a '99 700, just picked it up, and was wondering how much i need to play with jetting when i take it from 3000' above sea level (Home) to 800' (buddies place) for two weeks of trail riding? Also, despite opening up an endless can of worms, what 2-stroke oil do you recommend? Used to run Yammi 2R in my YZ, but not sure if it is the brand of choice when it comes to sleds...
Thanks for now...... Great Site!

Run amsoil interceptor.. Depending on the miles, pull the top end and put new rings in it. every 3000 miles. You might have to do that right now.
For jetting for sea level to 2000 feet, i would run 148.8 pto 147.5 center and mag.
anything far over that or closer to 3000 i would go 2 sizes down. There is a temperature and altitude jetting chart somewhere on here
I ran 145 mains around 5K to 7K feet when I was out west a while back in my SRX.

at your home (3,000ft) i would run 146.3mag and 143.8 in pto and center.
at your buddies (800ft), i would run 148.8mag and 146.3 in pto and center
...tom, i think you forgot that the '98's and '99's, had 1 size richer mains on the mag cylinders. the '00's and newer had the pto 1 size richer.

If its stock yet I would just get a service manual for the jetting because they have a very nice chart in the back for jetting at different alttitudes. As far as oil I run Yamalube 2S semi-syn, I have 14,000 miles on my SRX and still pullin 125 psi on each cylinder with no rebuilds, cross hatch is still pretty prevelant in the cylinders also. Plus yamalube is a bit cheaper than Ams, just clean the valves every fall and you'll be good!

Thanks OZ, i will pick up a manual for it. Was thinking about it anyways, but if it has a chart, that's perfect.
i realized that mopar, i just dont agree with it. but yea the jet staggering was changed in 2000 but was jetted on the lean sidemopar1rules said:at your home (3,000ft) i would run 146.3mag and 143.8 in pto and center.

yeah, i kinda felt the '00's had slightly lean mains. i like the '01 jetting, except for the 40 pilots instead of the common 42.5's.

Yea I agree, I don't see the ppoint in reringing the sled every 3000 miles. If your racing then MAYBE. but not on a trail sled in my opinion, ecspecially if theres still good compression. and proper leak down.
