My girlfriend bought an 04 SXViper with a little over 4000 miles on it.
The clutch engages about 3000 rpm. I'm sure the primary spring is weak or broken.
Who sells adjustable clutch kits for these sleds?(heel clickers?) She weighs about 125lbs with her all her gear on. She rides like one of the guys, so I'm looking for an aggressive trail setup. I have no idea where to start with a clutch combination for her weight. The track has 96 studs.
Any suggestions?

there are a couple aftermarket weights that are adjustable. there are hauck, heavy hitters, heel clickers, thundershift, dalton pro, and more. the most popular are heavy hitters and heel clickers. both of the adjustable weights, have their own primary spring, so if yours is broken or weak, it will be gone and that problem fixed in the process of upgrading. you can also get rid of the stock helix and secondary spring. i would toss the stock red spring in favor of the green spring. if you get the heel clickers, you will need to have a shallow finish angle on your helix (ex. 40-36 deg finish, so use like a 48/36 or 50/40, or 50/38...stuff like that), in order to maintain max rpm's on top end. with the stock helix, the rpms would drop on top, due to overshifting. my buddy had the same stuff going on w/his srx this past year. mrviper has a nice little writeup on the heelclicker tuning, floating around here somewhere. turk has some clutch setups in the tech pages, that you can check out as well. there are also some clutch setups in the tech pages, that are by a whole bunch of people, who posted there setup and application.

Doubtful

If the clutch is engaging at 4,000 RPM's I highly doubt that your primary spring is broken...perhaps worn out. When a primary spring breaks the clutch will usually engage extremely low.....then shift out with too much RPM. Do a search of my past posts....there is a great Heel Clucker set up that was discussed quite a bit last winter for a stock viper. If she only weighs 125lbs then you will probably be able to put a little more weight in the primary or perhaps use a little less twist on the secondary but be careful with that one because it will sacrifice backshift. Good luck.

^^^^^^Your reading miles(4000) Matt.....Clutchs engaging at 3000rpm's.......You must not have had your morning coffee yet.

Doh!

My bad.....I take that back. I've been up since 5:30 putting a new clutch in my kid's KX85 practice bike.......I hope I did that right! But still search the Heel Clicker clutch set up.....you won't be disappointed!

Madmatt, Clutch in the KX is like an hour job bud, what ya been doing with that thing????? :dunno: Just givin ya a lil shit this fine Morning

Lol!

Johnny....you're right...normally more like 1/2 hour or less. But I was spending time putting a friction plate back together like a jig saw puzzle so I could figure out how many pieces were unaccounted for inside the motor!! Luckily only one and I found it! All back together and going now! Ready to rip!

I don't know but can you tell me where you found a girl like that?

I was out riding my dirt bike, she was riding her 400ex, we almost had a head on collision. That's how we met
