Forgot to mention on my original post. The problem I have with the sled is that both the headlight and dash dim when the brake is applied.
Any ideas?

did you add any electrical accessories or a brighter headlight....this is what happends when there is a bigger drain on the electrical system.
I had a 2000 SXr 700. I had tha same problem. If I remember right, I had a rubbed wire going back to the tail light.

Could also be part of the stator, my dads vmax did that and we found a burned out section the stator.
As mentioned above i would check for shorts and such first. If it doesn't show up anything then test the stator.

Nothing has been altered electrically. I will go thru the wiring to see if I can find anything damaged - good idea.
Any chance it could be the voltage regulator? Other than replacing it, is there any way to check it out? I seem to have 2 of them behind the guard on the right foot. That may be because of the electric start. Just trying to figure it out without going to a dealer.
