Hey everyone,
I'm looking at purchasing a 2002 viper ER that has about 800 original miles on it. The own tells me it has only been ridden about 4 times and has not been out in the last 2 years. Been stored in a heated garage. Is their any issues with a 6 year old sled that has NOT been ridden?
Thanks,
Tom

Seal could dry out in it - I personally would rather have a sled with avg or higher mileage that was well maintained .. .. ... ..

2 yrs ago i bought a 94 bravo 250 that had maybe 10 hours run time on it for my son.the guy i got it from kept it in a basement all those years.it was mint!!!2nd trip out the top end seized.took it apart and found the crank seals had indeed dried out and leaked air causing a lean condition and bam!!the original owner never off season stored it.he just figured it was inside so it was fine.lesson learned,i agree with the others, unused is almost worse than used regularly.imo

You can, to some degree, check the seals. Spray some carb cleaner around them with the engine running and see if the rpms change. And watch the plugs and piston wash when you ride it.

How much $$ are they looking to get for it with only 800 mi?

He wants 3000 for it. It's completely bone stock except for the black windshield. He bought it from a female coworker that she special ordered as a Blue ER from the factory. She drove it once or twice, then he bought it 3 years ago. He only took it out a few times and didn't use it at all last year. I spoke to him 3 times and based on my conversations, he seems to be someone that takes care of his stuff. He said every toy he owns is close to perfect. I get a good vibe from him.
I'm probuly going to send him a depost today. The sleds 250 miles away so he said he would hold it. If this flys, I'm going to sell my 2002 Red ER if anyone is interested. I need to replace a powervalve cable, but other than that, it in good shape. I've alway wanted a Blue ER and this one sound mint.
