Chaincase bearing question

I need some help here. I'm replacing my track, and while I have it all apart, I figured I'd replace all the bearings. I picked up some 2605-2RS bearings for the chaincase, but when I pressed out the old ones, there is no seal on the one side of them. I remembered reading something about this a long time ago, but I can't find it on the search. So my question is, can I just take out one of the seals on the new bearings or does it matter?

When I changed my track the first time the bearing felt rough in there with the bearing open towards the outside and they seemed kinda dry to the point that I replaced 'em.This time with the open side towards the oil and the next time I took it apart the bearings seemed noticeably smoother and well oiled.I have about 4000 miles on this setup and it seems all good. You'll get varying opinions on this on this board, you could run 'em as is or pop one seal off and let it get chaincase oil your call.I did'nt have to remove a seal seing I used oem bearings.

The reason for the seal on the inside is that it keeps the filings out and the oil will pass by the seal to the bearings.

I left my seals on boths sides, I did pop the seal on one side and fill with grease and the popped it back together, Been 2 seasons, I just had it aprt this summer, and still smooth as new. Works for me ..

As mentioned before the seal keeps the metal filings from the chain and gears from chaincase contaminatingand wearing the bearing races. The reason the seal is left off the inside is because the driveshaft has a collar and a seal on it located in the chaincase. This lower chaincase seal keeps snow and dirt from entering bearing, the small void in between the bearing and back of seal fills with a small amount of chaincase oil as the oil is pulled past the seal and deposited in the well to keep the bearing lubricated and free of contaminates

I left the seal facing the inside off when I did mine, if I remember correctly they came that way from the factory?

I'm assuming mine is still the factory bearing considering the sled only has a little over 2500 miles on it, and the seal was installed to the chaincase side, open to the outside. So as I read these posts, I understand that it will NOT be detrimental to keep both seals installed, yes? I'd really rather not do this again next year if I can help it.

Also a good time to change out your speedo drive bearing on the left side while you have it all apart.

I take the grease seal off every season and pack it with fresh lithium grease. Same goes for the jack shaft bearing.
